It’s almost time to get back to the future ladies and gentlemen with Future Music Festival nearly on our doorstep. All that is needed is some loose change and possibly some clothing to make this day incredible. You won’t be needing the Docs DeLorean and a bolt of lightning to kick start the festival with the like of the Chemical Brothers, Steve Aoki, The Subs and Aussie favorites The Presets; Future Music is sure to wear out the soles of your party boots.

Hailing all the way from Brussels in Belgium is the duo Sound of Stereo, who may not have the following of a headlining act, but they sure can bring the party! They have been making simply breathe-taking energetic dance music for what seems like forever at times. From early on in their career they gained the tick of approval from the green doctor aka Dr. Lektroluv and have since been signed to his outstanding label (Lektroluv Records). The boys have an EP dropping on his label on March 14 entitled “Hurricane”. And in all honesty, with a title like that, there is no need for explanation of what it will do to your ears! Below is a mix they have kindly graced us all with which covers genres than from hard hitting techno to curb stomping electro! The tracklist is somewhat of a mystery which can only mean loads of exclusive bombs and tasty delights from the likes of Harvard Bass to Hey Today and of course a sneak peek at Sound of Stereos new EP. So be sure to grab the mix and the EP on March 14 and give your neighbors a firsthand (and preferably loud) lesson in Sound of Stereo!

To celebrate the launch of his new site, Foamo has unleashed a brand new mixtape. I'm not even going to bother listing all the Foamo mixes that have blown me away over the past few years (we're talking like 5 or more i'd say), because they're always get better and better. When you look at all the track lists, you notice two things. One, they're pretty much guaranteed to be packed full of exclusives and two, if you put every one side by side, it not only shows how Foamo (being his ever eclectic self) brings together a motley crue of any genre you can think of, but also how he has progressed as an artist. Bringing together his age old love for DnB and bassline and splicing it with house and everything in between.

Not only that, they have also provided us with mini-mixes from each of the artists, which give us an insight into all their new (and mostly unreleased!) productions. So, here's to my two favourites of their choices; mixes and interviews from Brenmar and Melé. This is the second mix within a week we've had from Brenmar, so there is an indication of his ridiculous (seemingly continuous) work flow. Canblaster and the whole 'Club Cheval' crew have really blown my mind throughout the whole of 2010 with some stunning originals, such as 'Jetpack' (Soundcloud link) and Panteros666's EP on Sound Pellegrino (Soundcloud link).

And it doesn't look like they're stopping anytime soon, with a huge number of remixes in the pipeline for 2011, notably Canblaster's remix for Drop The Lime's Hot as Hell and also his upcoming rejig of Yeah Woho! on Top Billin Records (preview below).

Dubbel Dutch

Dubbel Dutch has hit us with a brilliant remix of Deborah Cox's R'n'b groover 'It's over now', to round up a fantastic year for the US based producer and DJ.

Dubbel Dutch has been fired into the lime light this year, off the back of a release on Enchufada's 'Hard Ass Sessions IV' (Soundcloud link) and his incredible 'Throwback' EP' (Soundcloud link) on 'Palms Out Sounds', which has flew under many people's radars, but is still one of my favourite releases of the year.

He has also stepped up to the mark with some huge remixes on Sound Pellegrino, Palms out Sounds, Youngunz and recently he had his bootleg of Ciara - Deuces featured in Brodinski's 'Best of Everything Compilation' (download link), where some of the top producers on the scene each made their own twists on an R'n'b or Hip-hop track which revealed some outstanding results, with Dubbel Dutch's fast moving rejig taking the cake in my opinion.

Now back to the Deborah Cox remix. To be honest, I missed this track the first time round when listening to Brenmar's XLR8R mix (Soundcloud link), but after hearing it again, I can't stop replaying it!

So with all that, it goes without saying that Dubbel Dutch has been one of my top producers of the year and I eagerly await what he has in store for us in 2011!

PS. I just saw that his Deborah Cox remix is 11th in Brodinskis December chart. Wowzers.

Solo (UK) !

Solo (UK/DeadFish Audio) is one of the many artists currently riding on a nu-wave tech sound. His productions, including his highly noted remix of 'Put Your Hands On Me' by Parisian outfit 'The Crookers', contain an overload of catchy, melodic elements. By fusing them all together, he tends to make minimalistic tunes that grab you until the outro has all but played out - leaving you scouring Beatport for any more of his wonderful material. In his festive spirit, and in order to promote his 'secret London gig' this new years eve (alongside the Sound Pelligrino Thermal Team), Solo has dropped a bootleg for all of us to use and abuse. In his own words, he's 'been playing it out for quite some time now', needless to say its more than proven in the battlefield. Seem's like now days mixing intros and outro's is likened to listening to Brittany Spears. Everyone does it from time to time, but it's definitely something you'd want to do alone rather than projecting to a crowd. For most, solutions to this problem come from a) learning new and improved mixing techniques, b) cutting song lengths on a music editing program or c) making mash-ups. Consider a mash up a mix within a mix. Love them or hate them, there is no denying they are the poor mans production. In saying that however, they are also a fundamental way to get a crowd to actually listen to what your playing.

A well executed mashup should contain at least one track the teenie boppers are willing to take their clothes of to. Combining this generally commercialised, vocalised, 'chillwave' sound with a more bass orientated track is generally the best way to go. Alternatively, add 1 part pop track with 2 parts acapella for same effect. Here's a few mashups floating around at the moment.

Tom Staar, the man behind Two Tone Simms and Moda Records (Along with Jaymo and Andy George), and probably one of the most renowned studio engineering-djing-label running producers around, has just released his brand new Pandemonium EP!

On the back of huge support from legends the world over from Fake Blood to Fatboy Slim on his last "Heavy Artillery EP", there was a lot of expectation to meet for Tom Staar on his latest release but he has delivered in style. FRENCH FRIES

Someone who has really caught my attention recently with some stunning originals and remixes is Paris' very own French Fries. Yet another huge DJing and producing talent to come from the city of lights, French Fries had his first EP released at the tender age of 16 and first club residency at 14! But was only cannoned onto many people's radars after his huge track 'Senta' was picked up and championed by everyone from A-Trak to Crookers and Brodinski.

Still only 19, French Fries has only matured with age, with remixes on labels as big as Sound Pelligrino, Young Gunz and Night Slugs all tucked firmly under his belt, and hordes of upcoming remixes and tracks absolutely riddling me with excitement, such as his upcoming remix for Canblaster and Berou's track "Terence Hill" which is truly awesome.

Teki Latex, DJ Orgasmic and the Sound Pellegrino team have done it again.

Like their "It’s Raining Crystals From The Future" mix from around seven months ago (one of the most played mixes on mixcloud to date), they have comprised an awesome collation of what can only be described as the best upcoming house music, in their latest mix "Post-Time Travel Nosebleed", with every track (all currently unreleased) jumping up and opening your eyes to what you can expect from each artist and more significantly Sound Pelligrino (Teki and Orgasmic's label), who are without a doubt redefining the standards of today's fast moving house scene. It's hard to choose which tracks stood out most, with music from the likes of Style of Eye, Savage Skulls, French Fries and remixes from Harvard Bass and Canblaster. Each brings a different aura to the mix and I don't think any of the tracks or artists should be overlooked, as they are all HUGE.

DIRTY BIRD

I'm absolutely loving pretty much everything The Martin Brothers (Justin and Christian) and the Dirty Bird label are doing right now. Justin, for me, is on fire at the moment with hordes of outstanding remixes and originals, that I am not going to begin listing, firing him into the limelight.
The Martin Brothers upcoming remix for Riva Starr's and Major Lazer's "Jump" acts as even more proof of why the Dirty Birders are ruling the roost and if this video of Justin Martin dropping their remix is anything to go by, the San Fran based label (who this year are celebrating their 5th birthday) look to keep on flying high.

Unless it's the delightful work of our dear friend, the immensely talented Moe "Motatoe" Shahin, we rarely post much on the Fridge from graphic designers, but I thought I would give a quick shout to Graphic State Of Mind (GSOM) aka Ben Rose. His work never ceases to impress me and always demonstrates his design prowess, with his flurry of awesome fliers peppering the scene and his most recent project, the club/tour coverage of Banana's poland escapades, managing to cram all the mayhem that ensued from a night of Banana in Poland into a 4 minute video that truly lets you relive the madness they took with them to eastern europe. I've just received this little gem from my boy Subliminal and it has truly tore my speakers a new orifice.
I can't get enough of what Subliminal is doing as of late, with him applying his skills in a plethora of genres from dubstep to UK Funky to Kurduro (some coming up soon on his exciting new aliases), but he goes back to his roots of hardcore teeth rattling, brain crushing fidget beats for his remix of Torture by Figure.
This was set to be released on Torture's remixes EP on Idiot House, but Subliminal has kindly released this monster for nothing and let us post it on up to you.

Hey guys, I just got back from a month in the states. I went to play LA, Burning Man festival, McAllen in Texas and New York. I always try and get some pic’s from the gigs. Again burning man was crazy and the camp that I stayed at had a new stage to add to their two dome stages that were 60 foot and 90 foot. There was a huge video wall as well this year. Playing down in McAllen Texas, which is right on the boarder of Mexico, the guys loved cumbia. I think I remember seeing someone like Sinden or Congorock tweet about cumbia like a while back. But what the guys down there were starting to play was what they called cumbiastep. Just imagine Mexican cumbia music mixed with Dubstep. It's not by chance everyone calls AJAX their favourite DJ. When he's not downloading out-of-the-box audio like the Law & Order theme song for his sets, this Sydney success story is heading up the sweatiest, most party ridden dance label in Australia. With artists like Yolanda Be Cool, Loot & Plunder, Swick & Dcup under his wing, he's a modern day testament to the old tales about surrounding yourself with good people. While I've got nothing but love for this dance-floor hero, his prominence in the Australian scene has moved my viewings of his skills away from intimate clubs and into the wide open festival settings. Don't get me wrong, if there is any Australian DJ who can whip up a killer festival set its Ajax, but boy do I miss seeing him at Monastery... Oh wait. He's coming back. Fucking yes!

SUBLIMINAL SESSION

Keeping it fresh is our top priority, and there is nothing fresher than SUBLIMINAL. This UK based producer has only just turned 18 but already has been producing crazy house and fidget beats for years, recently coming into his own and receiving massive support from the likes of Hostage, Blaze Tripp, Acid Jacks and bass freaks the world over with remixes for Figure and Kanji Kinetic plastered all over his ever rising CV. To top that, he has an EP in the pipeline for Acid Jacks' label Idiot House, a breeding ground for talent nowadays with Blaze Tripp, Mustard Pimp, Figure and Egyptrixx all showing their worth on this huge label!
What strikes me most about Subliminal, is the accomplished clean feel about all his productions so far, which definitely warrants the great amount of (well deserved) support he's receiving. The only thing dirty about the tracks are the basslines, take The Juggernaut (Download) for example (which Hostage said "killed peoples bassfaces" at Cloud9 festival in Scotland), the roaring bass and UKG beat literally tears your subwoofer to shreds!
A lot of the sounds Subliminal has been churning out can be/have been compared to that of Foamo's early stuff, such as Can You Hear Me's whirring synth, old school vocals and screaming sirens.

Then there are his tracks like "The Fall" (Forthcoming on his Idiot House EP) which have to speak for themselves as the haunting melodic bassline in this one is nothing less than massive.

So we are stoked to be able to tell you our good friend Subliminal, has given us an exclusive track for all you Fridgers for free download!

For those fridgejuicers that loom over the plenti-packed Brisbane scene, a delightful treat hits Barsoma's shores this Friday featuring none other than overseas American juggernaughts — Holy Ghost! We haven't really gone into depth about Holy Ghost! here before, its rather been kept as something similar to well preserved sweet candy; like nougat, but rest assured, we'll give up our sweet toothed virginity to fill in the gaps in your musical cavities.

For a catch-up or rather, a nostalgic visit back to the past with Holy Ghost, we've included their two-part-two-disc mixtape featured on DFA earlier this winter. There's a lot of expect before you hit the DL, including sounds from In Flagranti, Phoenix, DJ Mehdi, Cut Copy, Van She and even the meshed sounds of the smooth skulled Moby. It doesn't come served without an amalgamated fist of full of remixed mayhem however. This one's also been rephased if you happened to nab the earlier released cassette version.

Next in line of our scrumcious confectionary is the mysterious maiden voyage of Flight Facilities with nu-disco collab — Captain Earnest Bon-Huffington, Madame Francois de Lundenkopf, Esquire Winston Humphries III and Fred. We've been listening since their remix of Lowbrows 'Dream In The Desert' which induced an epic eight minute coma and further glued to our speakers with the super creamy 'Crave You' (if you don't think you have heard it, you have). Since landing, the crew has signed on their euro-synths, hypnotic basslines and occasional cowbell to Australian label - Bang Gang. We've included some of their tracks in case you were living under a rock while they flew overhead.

The ghosts have alternatively released their 'Static on the Wire' EP which concocts a very danceable slice of their synthetic disco pop funk whose velvety, silky and rather legitimate chorus will be sure to keep your skull busy for a day or two. Crisp low down-down bongo drums as well as a sexy story like guitar solo blur the lines between where the static on the wire finish or ends, so feel free to jump rope this one for hours on end. We promise you won’t get sick of it - ever.

It’s become a well known artefact the Brooklyn boys are the remix masters and quick visit to the Holy Ghost blog reveals an array of psychedelic sounds and other cheeky shenanigans. They've had a busy year on road hip-swaying and finger snapping with LCD Soundsystem and zig-zagging across their home turf with Chromeo, but thanks to those gentlemen chaps at Lick It, we get to jump on audible express to hear the porn and make the happy ending that is Holy Ghost!

The first artist up in our Fridgejet exclusive mix series, is someone we've been very excited about for some time, John Roman. Hailing from Toronto Canada, he has been killing it this year creating crates of originals and making remix upon remix, with everything he touches turning to gold. His upcoming track 'Sala', charted by Brodinski in June, heads a number of releases waiting to be unleashed from his Reclusion mix, a collation of 16 productions made by the man himself, after he drifted away suddenly from the scene to solely produce some absolutely stunning tracks, that are sure to be DJ stalwarts and club destroyers once they drop. With multiple number 1 Hype Machine chart toppers and an incredible djing talent, which has seen him head huge line ups in many clubs across canada and soon the globe, we are delighted to have him onboard and the Fridge even managed to catch up with him to talk about everything from his mix for us, to blueberries and Kanye West!

FJ: Glad you could find time for us man, stuff must be pretty hectic for you nowadays! What’s new?
JR : Just always keeping busy in the studio – making music, researching music, trying to create something fresh and original. Working on a lot of official remixes that will be out in coming months. And I’ve also been preparing my “Sala” EP for release on Plant music this Fall. There will be some big remixers!

You've been producing for a while now, but only in the last couple of years you've made to switch from producing Hip Hop to Electronic music. What spurred you to change?
I think what I value most in music is innovation. And once I had exhausted most of the old school and underground, I found the genre a little stale. It wasn’t that great hip-hop wasn’t still being made, but you had to sift through so much wack stuff to find anything good it just became frustrating. I was listening to some dance music at the time, but it wasn’t until I heard some of the Ed Banger artists that I really took notice. I think there’s something very hip-hop about that sample-based, dirtier, distorted production style of Justice, SebastiAn or Mr. Oizo. It was new, authentic and creative, and it wasn’t long before I was trying to emulate them.

Who would you say are your biggest influences, on an electronic and a hip-hop front?
There are just too many names to mention in terms of electronic music now, but artists that are inspiring me right now include Tiga, Simian Mobile Disco, Perc, Egbert, Tim Xavier, Green Velvet, Azari & III, Renaissance Man, Riva Starr, Jesse Rose, James Blake, Flying Lotus, Mount Kimbie, Nosaj Thing, Four Tet and Aphex Twin.

As far as hip-hop producers go, DJ Shadow is my number one, but also RJD2, Prefuse 73, J. Dilla, DJ Premier, Kanye West, RZA and Madlib.

Lets talk about your Reclusion mix. It was dropped in June, and is packed full of tracks waiting to kill clubs worldwide, but what was your motive to suddenly go into hiding and produce when you had international gig and record deal offers and a massive growing hype surrounding your name in the scene?
The idea of Reclusion started when I made some of these “dub” bootlegs of Nadastrom and Proxy back in late 2009. I knew these tracks would definitely surprise some fans that knew me for “Martyr” or “Carnivores”, but I really wanted to explore this production style and learn from it. So I created Reclusion as a way of showcasing all of my unreleased work under one theme, rather than confusing people with individual releases. Instead of just “cashing-in” in the short-term from past tracks, I wanted to make something bigger, a project that I could look back on years later and be proud of.

I know you’re always in the studio cooking up some outstanding originals and remixes, but do you have any plans for a tour or do you have any gigs your particularly looking forward to?
I’ll be doing some touring within North America for the duration of 2010 and dates can be found on my MySpace and Facebook. In February of 2011 I will be doing some UK dates, so stay tuned for those if you’re in the area!

Whats your favourite studio snack?

and whats your biggest career moment that sticks out so far?
I think when I got charted by Brodinski for the first time with my “Save Us” dub was when I really realized that I wasn’t just a fan but a peer of some of my favourite artists.

Now, about this mix you've done for us, what can the people expect from it?
It’s very rhythmic techno and will give you a good idea of what to expect from me in the future – taking tribal ideas and using more electronic/high-tech sounds. It starts with a groove, builds to a banger climax and then cools off into ambience.

Festival season is upon us. You know? That time of year when dancing around to your favourite international artists in the afternoon sun is not so rare. A time of year when you can look forward to spending your necessities on a paper pass so you can party in a park for a day.

Perhaps the most surefire trigger signalling the start of this festive season is the rapidly approaching Parklife tour. Set to rock around Australia in late September (click here for dates), we felt it necessary to get in the spirit and see what some of the artists thought about the tour. If you know us well, you'd have a pretty fair idea who would have caught our radar on the Parklife lineup, and the friendly team behind your favourite festival made it happen. Without further delay, let's get stuck into our exclusive interview with Made To Play head honcho and international DJ/Producer JESSE ROSE!

FJ: Thanks for your time Jesse! You’ve experienced a tonne in your career, lets kick things off with a moment you wont soon forget?

Jesse: I played a gig here in June this year directly after Sonar in Barcelona - it was a street just round the corner from my house. We had all flown back that morning and were completely exhausted, running on no sleep for three days. We showed expecting maybe 300 people and there were more like 5000 packed into the street going mental. Ws i played the street got more and more busy until all you could see were heads for miles. Taking into account it was not a bank holiday just a normal monday in east berlin it's something I will never forget.

Do you see a change in the crowds over the years?

I'm lucky I get to play some really great clubs with some really great crowds around the world so for me I can still go and feel great vibes on the weekend but for sure it's changed in many places. For me, what's new is always the most exciting...

Your not far off smashing Parklife and thus we must release our trademark question. How do the Aussie crowds fare when compared to the rest of the world?

You guys can smash it up as good as any festival crowd around the world... playing festivals in Oz is always a lot of fun and for sure, Parklife is the best place to do it... To tell you the truth, I'm already excited!

You’ve done a number of collaborations in your career. How do you feel about working with other artists?

Sometimes I've had enough of being on my own in the studio and it's time for a collab.... other times i'm just hanging out with someone & we decide to make a track. Either way it's always with producers I'm a big fan of... so its always fun.

Do you have any artists you’d really like to make a tune with?

Tooo many to mention but lets start with Roy Ayres.

What’s a few of the main elements you look for in a GOOD tune?

Something you can dance to.

Who do you thinks hot on the scene right now?

Well it's notoriously official, Fridgejet loves Hostage. Not only has this red headed bass-veteran just announced he is set to tour here in Australia in October, but he has topped it off by releasing his "ROLL EP", completely free of charge via Nightshifters label.

The first track on the EP, The ROLL, shows off Hostage's versatile production style with an assortment of roaring, rolling basslines and a "take no prisoners" approach. US based producer Figure knocks his remix out of the park with a wobbly, fidget house monster and Samo Sound Boy and Nightshifters' head-honcho DJ Donna Summer complete an outstanding remix ensemble.

Accompanying The Roll and rounding off the EP in a typical Alan Hostage fashion is a track which is so heavy, it will encompass your whole body and leave you in a state of bass-provoked shock. Known simply as "The BA$$", this dubstep infused number is peppered with a seemingly tongue in cheek vocal, which adds an whole lot of fun the EP and almost sums up what to expect from an Alan Hostage DJ set. Charisma. Fun. And a whole load of BA$$!

Simian Mobile Disco are back with the second 12" in their Delicacies series. This time, the release consists of two tracks that fuse disquieting, uncanny lead sounds and textures to rock solid techno beat structures.

'Casu Marzu' kicks off proceedings on the A-Side. Named after a cheese infested with maggots that hails from Sardinia that was for a while illegal (the maggots have a tendency to try and eat your face whilst eating the cheese, and your stomach once they've been swallowed). The growling bass inches up the sense of dread, which is fully realised when the unholy clanging bells batter themselves into your brain during the breakdown. The whole experience is disorientating and detaching - probably not unlike the experience of eating Casu Marzu - until the kick drum slams back in to give you an anchor to reality on a morphing dancefloor.

"Thousand Year Egg" continues the theme, at a slightly more mellow pace. The stumbling, bleepy ketaminesque melody evolves slowly, seeming to constantly fall over itself as the track progresses - yet always remaining rooted to the superstructure of the 4/4. The paradoxical clash of movement produces almost a nausea (again, not unlike it's namesake), as brain and body revolt and yet remain entranced by the arrangements. If "Trance" is the sound of E rushes, this is like being spiked with a datura and a DXM cocktail.

So where is the delicacy?

Simian Mobile Disco are releasing a series of 12" singles, on a brand new imprint entitled "Delicacies", which will be accompanied by a club night - Delicatessen, curated by SMD themselves and happening at venues around the world.

Each track will take the name of an exotic, and often bizarre, delicacy from around the world. Already on the menu are "Aspic" and "Nerve Salad" which was served in late April. And now comes 'Casa Marzu' and 'Thousand Year Egg'. You can catch what they had to say on the topic of foods in Week 4 of the We Love Ibiza video collection.

The Egg drops on Beatport on August 16th but we couldn't leave the hungry, loyal fridgejet readers without some audio pleasure so we have included a massive mix from Neoteric, Sharkslayer and Beataucue who just finished their Australian tours down here!

Local man-beast hybrid Wolfie has kept himself busy over the last few months since we last introduced him here on the fridge.

Lending support to MSTRKRFT, Kissy Sell Out, Douster, Sven Vath, Kindom, Sound Pelligrino, Harvard Bass & Kid Sister through his coveted residency at Empire Hotel, it wasn't long ago the youthful Brisbane based DJ / Producer earned himself his own feature night. Wolfie's sets play an amalgamation of his own tunes and tracks/sounds influenced by the like Mele', Roska, Mommas Boy & Beataucue in a manner that is both dark and tropical.

As such, today in the fridge Wolfie brings us upto date with his continual in-house productions, laying down his fresh sound in his upcoming EP. Granted support from Larry Tee and Edu K, Wolfie tell us that the EP is "packed with endless amounts of drums and pure riddim... everything percussion & minimal but still makes you dance...".

There's a slam down coming to end this guilt ridden week, and it's with Ernie. Ernie, also often known as Bernie likes to hold spoof events for people looking to party harder than anyone else around. We're not one to doubt [b]Ernie, especially with the inclusion of their Mexican come American party man with "more bounce to the ounce"; Harvard Bass from Teki Latex/DJ Orgasmic's Sound Pellegrino Label. If there ever was a well educated Bass, it was this one.

The busy man (Victor Hugo Ramos) is quite an exciting addition to the house scene whose sound can't really be confined to a specific sounding genre, at least in our words. A fresh scoop of his latest remixes are sophisticatedly extracted from the likes of down-under DJ's; Bag Raiders and the Aston Shuffle. Supporting the man are locals we've very much blabbed on about before including Keen?, Killafornia, Habebe, Wolfie & Danny T. There's a man with a CV boasting multiple EP releases, Radio 1 guests mixes for Toddla T and massive support from an array of artists. Hence, there's no wondering why everyone in the business is tipping Krissy Peers, better known as Melé for big things. Playing checkers with the top at only 18, this young prodigy puts out every kind of genre from House, Electro, Grime or UK Garage. Our Manchester based broheim, Leo, managed to catch a moment of his time to get the latest.

Can you explain Melé's sound in 3 words.
I-don't-know.

At only 18, your already mustering up some of the freshest tracks to grace our ears. Where did it all start for you?
I started producing about 3 or 4 years ago. Seriously for about a year & a half though.

What else would you say helped you get seen? Other than some pretty impressive productions. What artists gave you you initial break through?
Sinden has really helped me out from the beginning of the whole mele thing which is cool. but also guys like l-vis 1990 & herve have helped me along the way.

With huge numbers of artists cueing up to get you on remix duties, the brand new release of your 'Bombay EP' on Mixpak Records and upcoming releases on Sindens groundbreaking 'Grizzly' label and Herve's 'Cheap Thrills', 2010 is shaping up to being a pretty busy year!What else have you got in the pipeline that we can look forward to?
I've just finished a track for a compilation Enchufada are doing called "Hard Ass Sessions", which is basically some artist's having a go at making a kuduro influenced track, really cool idea. Other than that a remix for Greenmoney which will be coming out on A-trak's Fools Gold. that about it really, I'm just seeing where things take me!

I look forward to hearing your take on Kuduro! For your remix on the Greenmoney EP, who were you approached by at Fools Gold? Was it A-Trak himself?
Nope it wasnt, i had been chatting to the greenmoney guys for a while & they had been saying they wanted me to remix this track with mz bratt they had for a long time before it was signed to fools gold. so fools gold was just a big bonus i suppose!

Definitely! How does it feel receiving support from the likes of A-Trak, Sinden and Brodinski, to name a few, so early on in your career?
It's really cool that all these guy's like my tracks, also a bit surreal at the same time.

Do you reckon this put a lot of added pressure on you whilst making your productions?
Not really, its made me more confident if anything.

Would you ever consider doing a collaboration? If so who would you like to work with?
Yeah I would love to. I don't think it work's when people just do collab's for the sake of them though, I would to work with MIA one day!

Who's/what your biggest musical influence?
Liam Howlett for sure.

Any artists your strongly backing for big things this year?
Brey on an experimental tip is doing some really cool stuff. I may be starting a label with him end of this year but that's early days. Google his terror danjah remix!

What are your opinion on blogs? Do they help the music scene develop and move forward or are they a hindrance?
yeah definitely they are cool. they can help break you to people who may not have heard of you before, i know they have helped me a bit.

Where Did Your Name Come From?
In about September last year my stuff was just starting to get recognized. I was producing under a different name (which was crap & I'm not going to share it) & i remember l-vis 1990 just told me one day that i needed to change it. I thought Mele sounded alright so i went with it.

What's your favourite fruit?
Orange, although i am not a fruit eater.

What's been the biggest highlight for Mele so far? Any particular set you've played or proud moment you want to share?
there hasnt been 1 big highlight really. playing chibuku in liverpool a few weeks back will always stick with me i think, it was one of them really spontaneous things, but pretty amazing!

After a brief hiatus of battle to what is insufficiently our spare time, secretive sneakiness and cheap vodka, we're back and will be cracking this week to get you somewhat updated on all things fridgjetty.

We start off mid-week now dosed off with world cup fever and some of our favourite club nights to bring you an update on some sounds we've been frothing over.

It wasn't long ago we talked thick riddim of our Lisbon based Portuguese holmies here. The same Kuduro Soca Ryhthm sound has recently matured and translated into the Portuguese label – Enchufada's latest ep, entitled "Hard Ass Sessions Vol. 2” – and what you read is what you get. All the tracks in the ep sit sounds between 135 to 142BPM respectively, rebirthed as inspired or at the very least, mutated interpretations of Kuduro rhythms delivered by Douster, Bok Bok & Nic Sarno You can download the ep here.

Yes, these are my own tunes. No I'm not going to rave about them. One is a remix of the highly anticipated 'Out of Body' track by Jack Beats, due out on June 21st via Herves 'Cheap Thrills' label. It's a vocal orientated Bmore-esque take of the original and samples the breakdown quite heavily in the tune. The other is simply a party edit I made awhile back. It combines the popular Noob and Brodinski A side track 'Peanuts Club' with the soothing style of MIA and her 'Bucky Done Gun' feature track. ONE TO WATCH IN 2010!

While many would know him better for his peak time bleeped out electro sound, Dan Aux started life as a breaks aficionado living in the suburbs of Newcastle, Australia. Fast track through hours of studio time, a bunch of local gigs and a change in location (a move to New Zealand), and you've got yourself one of the fastest rising and most in demand DJ's around.

Having already signed to Tommie Sunshine's New York imprint 'Brooklyn Fire', Mr Aux has already racked up a very impressive discography! With remixes for the likes of The Cheerz and Breakdown and collaborations with Mr Sunshine, it's pretty tough to venture into the blogosphere and not get a fresh dose of his pumped up sound. "The easiest way to describe my sound is dutch house with a twist" he says, concluding that "for the past year or so I have been heavily influenced by the dutch sound. There is something simple and sexy about the style that makes it so fresh!". We were more than happy to agree with his statements, and were curious to find out how the New Zealand crowds faired with his musical preferences, with Dan explaining "It's good in NZ, the crowds really don't mind what I play so I don't have to go all commercial".

Like most modern artists, assisted fame for the Dan Aux alter-ego came from good quality peer to peer media, with blogs going nuts over his crazy sound. Speaking on the topic, he reflected "Its great for the profile, with a lot of producers touring purely based on their popularity which has spread from blogs, especially given that everyone owns their tunes and they are highly accessible". Despite this, its obvious he can see the correlation between lowered artists profits and increases in file sharing, stating that "its getting harder and harder for artists to make money given the increasing in blogs and file sharing on the web". Aside from this, Dan Aux admits that it's every artists goal to have a permanent place where people worldwide can access your music, "...whether it be a Speedyshare link uploaded by some kid in Russia that's been downloaded millions of times or the official Beatport link, if someone loves the track enough they will be happy to pay their $2.00 for it".

TIGA INTERVIEW!

The Turbo Records artists lineup could be considered one of the most prominent and future orientated groups of producers in the world today. Consisting of everyone from Brodinski to Proxy and Tiga, it's hard to find a rival in terms of global success, especially when you factor in the level of diversity the cohort holds. Perhaps one of the more prominent DJ/producers under the Turbo Records wing is the Montreal born musical sensation 'Tiga'. Luckily enough, Turbo have shot us over some answered questions to feature! They are based predominantly around the upcoming Turbo tour and the answers really tell you a lot about Tiga himself, alongside summing up his opinion on most of the current crop of international DJs. Read ahead, enjoy the chat and look forward to his set at Winter Sound System 2010!

Tell us a little bit about the upcoming Turbo Records tour?
The tour serves a few purposes; (1) I don’t have to tour alone. I think the audience really wants to see me have a good time up there. There's nothing sadder in this world than unrequited fun. It can get lonely touring by yourself. You come offstage with the vitamin water sweats, looking for the right lady to rate tracks on a scale of 1 to 10 with. And there’s no one there for you. No one who really understands. Now there will be at least two people who understand. (2) It forces me to evolve as a DJ, which is a very beautiful thing for a crowd to witness. Digital. Analog. And back again? Count on it. I’m like a shark: if I stop grooving, I’ll die. (3) We all get to hang out together, our loveable gang of huggable li’l misfits. I’m going to try to force everyone to dress like authentic street urchins (newsboy caps, burlap vests), to accentuate that special sense of boyish mischief. Every guest artist can play whatever they like, provided they stay after their sets and dance behind me as I DJ. You want to get paid, you get to the back of the conga line early and often. (4) We will be putting real effort into the production aspect and the visuals. People should expect a full night of magic and smiling and looking and sighing. Post-post-post-everything musical programming. I find that nothing excites the passions like the word “programming.” I feel I should mention that the initial idea was to tour with the same audience for every show. Unfortunately, we found that we couldn’t ship them as cargo, so we’ll have to see who turns up in each city. I can’t wait!

How long did it take to put the tour together?

It’s been a work in progress. On the admin/agent end it’s been a long time, and that’s probably too interesting a story to recount in its entirety. The musical/visual end started around February, so you do the month-math. I have other things to calculate. The tour will evolve a lot in those first few months. May is more about testing the limits of what we can do. By summer, we’ll be a well-greased machine. So try and hold on as we take you for a Greasy Machine Ride. In terms of talent, Planet Turbo is a perfect storm. Like that movie where the fisherman invites his wife over for a big fish dinner and there’s a romantic storm outside and he puts on the Hi-Fi and the feeling’s so right and they make love for the remainder of the film. This tour will capture the feeling of that fisherman having his way with you.

What would you say sets this tour apart?

For one thing, it’s the first tour I’ve made a point of constantly referring to as a “game-changer”. I think the main difference is that we are going to go for a full night of music that really fits together, and visuals that represent that. So, to use the ultimate cliché, it’s a journey. One on which I hope you will let us take you. We want to take the narrative approach of a 70-minute concert and merge it with the 12-hour feel of a warehouse party. Imagine watching “Rattle & Hum” for 12 straight hours in a filthy warehouse. Well, this is even better than that. Picture the entire INXS “Kick” album condensed to eight minutes…then spread that feeling over 6 hours. Then double it.

Your thoughts on...

Erol Alkan? Vowels. One of the big boys. And a great friend.

Boys Noize? Techno kid all grown up. Amazing DJ, and one of the few guys I really trust to destroy a party. Fits right into my Man’s Planz.

2manydjs? The masters of the genre, that genre being party destruction. I had to call in a favor. An inspiration in terms of taking DJ shows into "production" realms (read: bad economics).

Zombie Nation? A big of the extended Turbo family. And it really is a family. I’m the father, and everyone else is like a cousin or stepmother.

Proxy? makes the biggest tracks on Earth, and already a Turbo old-timer. Very much THE Turbo star.

Brodinski? He once told me he loved mayonnaise. I realize now that he was trying to ask me to make him a sandwich. NOBODY asks me to make them a sandwich. THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS. People see those butter knives backstage and they start making assumptions...

Felix da Housecat? Likes to laugh and drink and choke from laughing while drinking.

Gus da Hoodrat? The only guy that can really challenge Henry in raw party-vibe. The living embodiment of the Mick Jagger album Primitive Cool. Easily 300 times cooler than the singer/activist from Midnight Oil.

Finally, when and why did you start Turbo?

I started it in ‘98. I just wanted to work with artists and music and find a way to launder the money from my nightclub business. That’s just me joking around. You can’t launder counterfeit traveler’s checks. Turbo has always been about putting out the best possible music. We don’t do vanity projects. For instance, we decided against putting out my rock album, “Dungaree Heart”, as well as my devotional project “Rhythm of the Jesuits”.

How highly do blogs attribute to the amount of illegal music download links around the web? Is the core purpose of most music blogs still to promote and advance an artists success? Has blogging become common place for people who know very little about the topics they speak? Are people now starting blogs up merely as an alternate form of self promotion for their personal endeavours? Given the trend towards sole online distribution of artist releases, through outlets like Beatport, blogs have recently come under further scrutiny for the content they post. For every marketing expert that backs and supports 'peer-to-peer' promotion, an 'anti-blog' advocate voices his or her concerns on the potential loss of revenue blogs can cause for artists. It's an ageing debate but one that obviously effects us on a number of levels. We constantly get asked by our readers 'where do you find all the music you post?' and the answers always the same - our email inbox. We at Fridgejet, like any correctly operated media blog, only post media that we have permission for. If your doing your late night runs around the blogosphere and come across a prettied up blog thats posting 320kbps links to tracks that have only just been released to the public, its a fair guess you've come across a blog thats infringing on the copy write regulations of the artists and record labels. By downloading and enjoying the music off these sites, you are turning your back on your favourite producers and taking away their future funding."

Is it just me, or is the time taken to complete a standard 'monday to friday' rotation getting longer? I dunno if theirs some guy behind the woodwork packing more hours into the working week, but this is just getting ridiculous. It seem's like a year since my last weekend. Now that I think about it thought, it could be that growing addiction to the weekends I hold - simply getting stronger. Anyway, to music we go!

The reason for this post is not exactly clear. Given it's a Sunday evening, the NRL is on and there's very little energy left in the tank - I'm even surprising myself. The weekend was once again long and fulfilling. My only regret lies in missing Sampology's 'Super Visual Disco Show' last night, which was held at Alhambra Nightclub and was backed by The Arcade Creative. I hear Sam even threw down some Justin Bieber - something I would say is so cringe worthy its inspirational! Apart from a few late night antics, uni is starting to take over once again, so we apologise in advance for any decline in 'post frequencies'. On the topic of 'us', a few things have been going on behind closed doors lately. As many are well aware, later in the year will signal our huge first party. Without saying too much, you won't have any trouble deciding whether or not to come along once you hear the details! We're also sitting just shy of our 100,000th site visit! We will definitely throw something special up for the celebratory post, so keep an eye out! Aside from that, we have plenty in terms of competitions, interviews and most importantly - music, coming up over the next few weeks!

Back in 2008, two Chicago citizens combine to form The Black Holes. Their soul purpose was to deliver jackin' house music to punters who felt the common constraints of popular music were a little too restrictive. Realising the power of online promotion, the duo went straight to the blogosphere, launching a number of original tracks free of charge and thus putting their name right into the scrutiny zone. Finding common ground with labels like Potty Mouth Records, things had really turned out great for them. They even polished off a 2 track EP that was set for release! Unfortunately however, due to a number of reasons - it never made it to the release date. The good news? We have it here for you now!
