LAIDBACK LUKE!

Ask any club music connoisseur about Laidback Luke and they would tell you he's one hell of an artist. The Philippine born producer has worked with the likes of Diplo, A-Trak, Kanye West, Tiesto and everyone in between, using his depth of knowledge and precise engineering skills to top charts worldwide. Since 2008 when he dropped in at #48 in DJ Magazines 'Top 100', Laidback Luke has done everything in his power to hit the top - proving he may very well be laid back about everything except his music.

Back in 2008, Luke Van Scheppingen DJ'ed worldwide at over 200 events, released 15 remixes and 5 originals and wow'ed the world over, all in a 12 month period many called his 'breakthrough year'. Knowing well and truly the modern DJ was more than just a music machine, Luke spent his time establishing a solid website and focusing his efforts on his now famed 'Super You&Me' club night, initially held at 3001 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The now internationally recognised event has featured everyone from John Dahlback to A-trak to Bart-B-More, with his latest night coming March 6th @ Panama in Amsterdam. The night incorporates everything Luke believes a club night should, with the superstar quoting 'plenty of kids in superhero outfits, a huge crowd and nice girls' - a combination that has clasped his vote for best club night of 2010.

Aside from knowing how to party, Luke's laid the brag-worthy role of a Pioneer DJ and spokesperson, constantly speaking on behalf of the international super manufacturer. He also holds a soft spot in Radio 1's heart, with Pete Tong constantly splattering Laidback Luke tunes on his Essential Mixes and Kissy Sellout praising the amazing producer. If that's not enough, his name has been nominated for 3 IDMA Awards, he owns a record label thats dropped hits including SonicC's 'Stickin' and has sat on the Beatport throne a number of times for his amazing production skills. After all this, you can tell just how amazing this kid is and we have proof. Enjoy some new and old bootlegs he has thrown out over time - courtesy of your friends in the Fridge!

“Phonat is creating eye-opening and inspiring music”

The Culture of Me
“We're saying it: you may be looking at the best track and best video of 2009, from none other than Phonat"

Italian producer Phonat has been catching the ears of a fair few tastemakers with his last few singles and EP releases. Include the likes of Annie Mac, Annie Nightingale, Fake Blood, Steve Aoki, Andy George and Pete Tong to the list and you can see why the lofty Italian has been marked out as one to watch this year.

Now, ahead of his eponymous debut album due out in September on
MofoHifi Records, Phonat releases ‘Set Me Free’ a staccato-synthed stomper of a track, where classic 80’s rock vocals provide the support. A standout from the forthcoming album, Phonat hasn’t skimped on remixers with the first coming courtesy of Avicii, the latest ‘made’ man in the Swedish House Mafia. Proving his pedigree Avicii chops vocals and swirls synths to create a hands in the air Balearic bomb, early copies of which are already becoming staples in the record boxes of the more discerning DJ. Trust us, this guy is killing it!

Bleeps and basslines are the order of the day on
High Rankin’s re-rub as the dubstep dandy leads listeners to the dancefloor, albeit down a slightly murkier back route, before Louis La Roche’s Reconstruction adds a tougher, twisted edge to complete the package. While your going to love every last peice of Phonat and his remixing-legion's EP, our pick is the Avicii remix - what a winner!
