I type this as i sing along to some P!NK .. Yes im an avid fan haha. Well its been a hectic time since setting up the label its come along in leaps and bounds. With Remixes by Jayforce hitting 13 on the beatport electro charts and other remixes by the likes of Myagi, Robb G, Danny Soundz all smashing it up. Plus Originals by myself hitting as high as 20 and others smashing up not only the electro charts but also the nu disco ones. Im very pleased for whats coming up and the support the label is getting. so much so that we are touring it around the world soon with our first stop being Aus / Nz for 5 - 6 dates partying with the crowds out there and spreading some WoNKed madness. Myself and Rossco (we both run the label together) will be flying out and causing some mayhem. Watch out for future tracks from the likes of Rossco, Lempo vs Kelevra, jay robinson, si valdez vs tin dog. escobar and vito, rude boys and many many more. www.beatport.com/labels/wonked. On a more personal music note i just hit number 12 on the beatport electro charts with my remix for Illeven eleven. Sporty o - ill off 808. Sporty o's lyrics are amazing i was pleased to get to remix them and very pleased at all the continued support that ive been getting on my tracks. Ive just finished up a remix for Hussle (australia) and another for Looking Glass recordings which is of Angel (from cleopatra .. remember them haha coming attcha). Both are coming out soon so keep an eye out they are slightly different for me. www.beatport.com/artists/wonk. Gamefaze management just took myself and the label crew on worldwide so expect some crazy gigs coming up and also look out for festival news which will follow soon. Also watch out for the QEE's .. we are now sponsored by Toy2R and they have given us some toys to take on tour and my god people love them (no stealing now people). Pictures to follow. www.toy2r.com check them out they do crazy stuff. I have also just agreed to something pretty big Artist wise and ill yell about that when i can. In March a Haiti Album is coming out which includes some of my tracks and all proceeds will go to Haiti so all support is appreciated as those guys need a lot of help. |

Walk Abouts With WoNK - Part 3
Well Well, It's been a hectic time since I last blogged!
The label is launching on the 23rd of November on mighty BEATPORT.COM/LABELS/WONKED so expect some heavy beats coming out. The First EP has Escobar and Vito vs Young Nutz - The Raver, Young Nutz - The Party and WoNK - Don't Give up Disco. Check it out right here. The label is run by myself and Dixxie (The other Young Nut) and we have already taken on EPs from the Idiot boyz, Kraymer, Shock an Awe and Si Valdez? vs Tin Dog, plus, on the remix we have Robb G, Kick Oh, Jay force, Blaze Tripp and many more. Demos are being taken for future remixes and originals are being signed so feel free to hit us at wonkedrecords(@)live.com with a demo submission as we listen to everything.
On a personal note i just moved house so the studio had to be taken down and re-set up but my god, the room I have now for it is so much bigger. The sound is amazing so I will be dropping out some heavy tracks including a solo one I'm finishing up at the moment which is called 'Reclaim the Streets' and will be out soon ;)
As promised Nuttahz is now out and here it is and the whole package aswell:
Plus some other bootlegs for you :)

Walk Abouts With WoNK - Part 2
Well after 20 days away on tour, 17 flights, 11 gigs and god knows how many different cities and airports, I'm finally home in my own house with my studio rattling to the sounds of some tasty beats.
After getting back my Young Nutz partner (Dixxie) and I decided to get a label up and running. We wanted to bring the underground to everyone, showcase some fresh talent and also some of the usual suspects. Working hard for the past 3 weeks we have created 2 EP's for the launch which will include tunes by Young Nutz, Myself and Escobar and Vito, who we are doing a bunch of collaborations with including some tasty bootlegs which you will hear soon. As a way to launch the label properly we have decided to showcase some of the talent forthcoming on it and put out a big bootleg package which has bootlegs of Shy Fx - Nuttahz. Already testing out the Young Nutz mix on tour and taking a few vids we realised that it is a much loved tune so decided that you readers should get it free (so watch out its coming very soon).
On top of this bootleg we will also be letting loose our Rhythm flow bootleg that we did with Escobar and Vito. It's a Jack Beats style wobbler, mixing up one of our favorite old skool tunes. The labels myspace is up and running RIGHT HERE so check that out and the tunes and if you have anything please feel free to throw it over.
Gig wise things have been a touch quiet since coming home which is good as I get to relax a bit however I have been playing down at the Glasshouse in Stourbridge on Sundays where Dixxie and our friend Benoir run a night called Djs Strut and open the decks up to new talent as well as us being able to test out the new tunes.
I'm heading down to london for my debut there on Saturday at Hidden which will be awesome i can't wait to see what the london crowd are like and its always good to try a new dancefloor. Keep an eye on the label myspace and of course the wonk and young nutz ones as there are some big things coming.
Oh and before I forget much love to Messy Funk Clothing who will be sponsoring Young Nutz, WoNK and WoNKed with their line of t shirts and more from june 4th next year which is their official launch. I will keep you updated with all goings on there.
Much Love,
WoNK.
Hangin' With Ho-Ju :: Episode 1.

Well, where to start... It's been a crazy old month here at Ho-Ju HQ... With many releases due out soon and my first remix coming up ( a tasty collab with FRIDGEJET fav. WoNK... , I have been kept busy with lots of label duties..... We are just putting the finishing touches to our upcoming DISCO BALLISTIC REMIX EP ....Following on from the success of the original EP from LAZY RICH ( Reached #12 on BEATPORT... ) With remixes by JAY ROBINSON & SUPABEATZ, THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN, AQUILAGANJA & DIRTY POLITICS...This is already garnering big big support from around the globe from superstar dj's such as FAKE BLOOD, ANDY GEORGE & JAYMO ( RADIO 1 ), KEEN? (Local Hero's), DAN AUX, ONE FISH 2 FISH, DETBOI, ANIKI and many more....to hear a preview go here... Finally we have a huge EP coming up from THE SHOPLIFTA'S... this one features some amazing remixes from That Girl DJ, The CHeerz & your's truly with WoNK.... Stay tuned cause FRIDGEJET will be getting an exclusive sneak peek as the release date grows near...;)
Now, one of the questions i get asked all the time is... CAN I PLEASE SEND U A DEMO FOR YOUR LABEL...Now obviously this is a daily occurrence for me @ Ho-Ju. However, there are right and wrong ways to go about it...So i thought i would end this months write-up with the right way to do it.. ( or at least the way i like it done )
3 EASY STEPS TO PROPERLY SUBMITTING A DEMO FOR SIGNING...
1. Make sure the track is as close to finished as possible ( the amount of demos i get that are unfinished, unmastered, dodgy sounding bits of music is unbelievable.. DON'T SEND IT OUT TO LABELS UNTIL ITS FINISHED...)
2. Enclose some sort of BIO / INFO on who u r and previous tracks/remixes u have done ( not only does this look professional, but it also gives the label an idea of who they are dealing with...
3. If your track/s do not get signed , please resist the urge to tell them they wouldn't know a good tune when they hear one, and hope they fuckin die... ( As believe it or not i had once.. Dodgy Italian Producer with the initials ALEX P haha )... Chances are they may be interested in one of your future tunes...So thank them and always ask for feedback about your tune... It may help when submitting another tune.....

Walk Abouts With WoNK - Part 1

Hey everyone, WoNK here with my first installement of 'Walk Abouts With WoNK' and a little insight into my travels.
So after a lovely 8 hour flight I land in Ontario to be greeted by The Melting Man and Kerrie Nation .. who are running a touch late .. why? Because they are running around the wrong terminal telling staff they lost their friend from England haha! My first big welcome to Canada is going to a McDonalds and being poo'd on by a bird.. nicee!!
The london crowds are amazing and really up for it, people that just like to party, and it was wicked hanging out with the Melting Man and Kerrie Nation. Such lovely hosts taking me to feed the ducks, eat Nerds and giving me Perogies and Poutine. Plus I got to meet gabby their lovely cat and some nice people such as Josh, Dave, Dj Awol, luke, wendy, evileyez and many more whose names fail me right now. After 2 banging gigs in London I headed to calgary where I hooked up with Chris Moriera and the lads and went to party at Sals. Lovely crowd, tasty sound system and dirty beats. Can't be beaten. I also get greeted on msn with the news that my Satisfaction remix that i did with Filthy Rehab has been played by Kissy Sellout on Radio 1 which is ace as he played my Crystal Gypsy remix not long back also.
Then off to Saint John, a quiet town until you get into the clubs and they just love it. I don't think i have had so many pictures taken with crowd members before and gotta say much love to Decay and Adam Dixon for warming up before me and specially for Dixon for doing a b2b for the last 30 mins with me as well which tore it up. A short hop on an 18 seater to Montreal and then on to Toronto to party with the Bassteaser Crew which was awesome. A nice venue called Nocturne with some lovely party people.
The next stop was whistler. I landed in Vancouver and then headed up to Whistler through the mountains and the picturesque views. Im a little sad it wasn't the snow season because id have loved to have had a day snowboarding but the venue was amazing one of the best booths i have ever seen and the clubbers were really into their fidget. I got to spend the next day in whistler chilling and checking out the paths and mountains before heading back to Vancouver that evening. It's one place I will definitaly have to hit again at some point.
While out on tour I've been talking to Dixxie my Young Nutz partner and we have decided to do a mega bootleg package. A friend of ours Matt B has done a wicked remix of a Shy Fx tune and wanted us to do a cheeky remix of it too so we have gone one better and lined up not only Young Nutz to do one but also Kick Oh, Mini K, Melting Man, Filthy Rehab, Mikey Dalton, M n M and Royal K. Everyone will do their own take on the tune and then it will go out as a big bootleg package world wide to show the skills of all the producers and give the clubbers and fans a chance to get some hot free music. Fridgetjet will get this package first and be sure to watch this space for some special news coming very soon from myself and Young Nutz.
