Adam Bozzetto Says Hi (October)

Hey guys, I just got back from a month in the states. I went to play LA, Burning Man festival, McAllen in Texas and New York. I always try and get some pic’s from the gigs. If your interested I have them up on my flickr so you can check them out by clicking here! Again burning man was crazy and the camp that I stayed at had a new stage to add to their two dome stages that were 60 foot and 90 foot. There was a huge video wall as well this year. I wish I had a video of myself playing this stage but I got a couple of video’s of Santiago and Bushido which you can check out here:

Bonus: Electric Soulside @ Burning Man 2010

Playing down in McAllen Texas, which is right on the boarder of Mexico, the guys loved cumbia. I think I remember seeing someone like Sinden or Congorock tweet about cumbia like a while back. But what the guys down there were starting to play was what they called cumbiastep. Just imagine Mexican cumbia music mixed with Dubstep. Kinda fun music, nasty side of Dubstep and party sounds of Mexico. Here are some links to my favourite two tracks which they gave me.

Also, I've got a new EP coming out so I'll dabble in a little bit of self promotion at some point, but for now, heres a nice little teaser package to give you a feel for the EP.

Adam Bozzetto Says Hi (May)

First off what I have been up to. I just got back from a 3 day trip to Wagga Wagga, NSW with Heaps Decent to go into the Riverina Juvenile Justice center. We wrote some tracks with the Guys in there and some of the boys were like seriously good rappers. DJ Levins and I have almost finished the songs and they will be available from the Mad Decent blog soon enough. The last time heaps decent went out to same center they took A-Trak with them and he has finished an amazing song with the kids. The song and video’s are all over on the Heaps Decent (heapsdecent.com) site. We can’t take any video’s from inside the center tho to protect the kids identity.

This is a bit geeky but I just picked up this bit of kit the other day. It’s the first dedicated Serato controller and I love it. It’s been out since November last year but I had never seen it anywhere until I saw it on Bass Kleph’s Facebook. I highly recommend it. I have used the korg nano controllers but they are just a pain in the ass compared to this. Everything syncs up perfect.

Music I have been listening to. I picked up the new Mr Flash EP today. So killer. I also found out today that Mr Flash produced one track on the new Mos Def album. There you go. Also Justin Martin is touring around at the moment so I have jumped back into the Justin Martin archives and have been pulling out some of his older tracks which I just can’t get enough of!

I have been out of it for a bit! Just been working on things other than my own tunes for a while so didn't have much to post really.

In one post i mentioned that I had started working with the Heaps Decent program. A program started by Diplo, DJ Sleater Brockman (Levins) and DJ Nina Las Vegas of HOOPS fame. I won't go into details but if your interested go over to heapsdecent.com. The current project I'm working on with them is Detours and Destinations. We write songs with kids from like 8 years old to around 16 and some of them are pretty cool. If you go over to the site there are a bunch of vid's and music that we have started with kids in schools all around Sydney. Whenever Diplo or other artists come out they often help out with the Heaps Decent program. The last couple of artists who have been a part of the work shops are A-Trak and Spank Rock. A-Trak even produced a song for the program!

Songs I am feeling right now are The Urchins remix of 'Paper Romance' by Groove Armada. I think it's mainly because it sounds like the original but the remix is a bit easier to play out. Another track is 'Back From The Grave' by Bobmo just cause it sounds like house music but it doesn't sound out of date. Love it!

Hey all. Let's kick things off by throwing around a few tunes I like playing at the moment. Golden Bug’s newish track called Assassin first of all. I think I like it because it's hip hop meets electronica. Second I am back with a Riva Starr remix of the Gossip. I am not a massive Gossip fan but I think if you download this you will here the section of the song that caught my interest!

Assassin, Golden Bug
The Gossip, Love Long Distance (Riva Starr remix)

Moving on, every now and then I help out the Heap’s Decent guys. Heaps Decent is a label/collective of people that help underprivileged members of the community play and make music. It was started by Diplo and two Sydney guys, Nina Agzarian and Andrew Levins. To see more go to heapsdecent.com. It's amazing who they have gotten on board to help out so far, all of which you can see on their website. Anyway I was lucky enough to have Mad Decent’s artist’s Maluca come over to record some vocal’s and help write with one of the Heaps Decent rapper’s, D-minor. Was awesome to work with such an amazing artist like Maluca, which was definitely a highlight of last year, especially when she turned up with another Mad Decent artist Paul Devro! The track we recorded should be up on the Mad Decent Blog soon!

About 6 months ago I did a remix for an Italian group I am into called Pink is Punk. Just by chance I was in Jakarta when they were on the Indonesian Tour in December. I went down to the club to play with them and it was a great gig. It was the first time I had met them face to face which was cool. The gig was at Budda Bar (yep the same people that do those compilation CD’s) which is probably one of the best clubs I have been to in Jakarta. The night before I caught Aeroplane play there which was awesome. Here is the remix I did for the Pink is Punk guys if your interested.

Pink is Punk, It Must Be My Lucky Day (Adam Bozzetto remix)

Last thing is my new mixtape. There is a remix I did for Muscle’s on here which was done almost a year ago and was due to be released on Modular but we all know about the fall out that happened with Muscle’s and Modular. I would like to add that my personal experiences with Muscle’s were all positive. Also there a couple of new tracks which will be coming out on Potty Mouth Music next year. Enjoy!

Adam Bozzetto Says Hi (November)

Hey all. Not a whole lot has been happening in the last month. Calm before the storm I think! I personally have been finishing off some tracks for Potty Mouth Music. Hopefully a second release is not to far off in the future.

I do have a tonne of new music in which to write about however. The two that stand out are the new Strip Steve EP and Justin Martin and Riva Starr teaming up. The new Strip Steve EP.......Amazing. I like that there is a move to a more funky/disco sound with acts like Strip Steve, Boyz Noise, Fake Blood etc. It makes it easier for myself to play their music in my sets. Also a five track EP, not just two or three.  I think its kind off meeting a middle ground between what I guess I am used to as ‘fidget’ and Indie Dance/Nu Disco.

Strip Steve - AM/ FM

Also I am excited that the not minimal/not fidget sound (like the label Sound Pellegrino) is giving a new life to Justin Martin and Riva Starr. I remember all the tech house heads were the only people that would listen to Justin Martin. But now he is back. Here is my favorite tune from the two at the moment.

Justin Martin, Claud Von Stroke – Beat That Bird (Riva Starr-Re Chunk)

Talk this time next month!

I am just about to end my 6 week stay in the US. Just a quick thanks to LA house music legend Wally Callerio for having me stay the last week, showing me one of Tiger Wood’s houses, and taking me to the shooting range so I could shoot a .357 Magnum. You didn’t need to chant USA, USA, USA while we were there thought? Anyway here are a couple of the musical related highlights of the last 6 weeks.

San Francisco was awesome. James Amato and the crew organized a gig with Green Velvet and Mark Farina which was amazing. I wanted to run off with Green Velvets CD as a souvenir...hahaha. I was thinking maybe he won't notice if I don’t give it back to him after I took it out of the CD player. It was amazing that you could have two such big names playing at the same time on different stages at a gig of only about 1000 people. One guy who was also booked to play the gig was Sticky K. He couldn’t make it in the end but I heard his new Crookers remix the other day and it’s killer!

My gig in LA got shut down before I even got there! Something to do with fire escapes. But warehouse parties are definitely alive and well in LA. I guess I have only heard about Cinespace and Aoki’s parties on Hollywood Boulevard, I had no idea about warehouse parties. I went to one on the south side of LA and I didn’t feel like I was at rave at all. Hahaha. It was a great alternative to going to a club where they have stop serving alcohol at 2am, and didn’t have the dodgy aspects I normally associate with warehouse parties.

This was my song of the tour. I think I have played this song at every gig. It’s not so new so you might already have it. I am still getting a lot of use out of it!

Adam Bozzetto Says Hi (September)

Hey All! Adam Bozzetto Here.

I just got to the US about a week ago. First off I would like to say a massive thanks to Potty Mouth Music label owner,
James Amato, and his housemate who is also a killer Dj, Ori Kawa, for letting me stay at there house and for filling every need I have to eat all things American.

I just got back from playing the Root Society Camp @ Burning Man Festival with a bunch of the Potty Mouth guys. WOW. what an experience. But lets just keep this post about the music. I was lucky enough to play along side a host of killer artist like
Hatiris, Robb G and J E L O all from Canada, Will Bailey from the UK, Joachim Garraud from France and the Potty Mouth guys James Amato, Electric Soulside, Santiago and Bushido and TJR. It was great to hear 'our sound' and similar stuff going down in a 60ft dome stage in the middle of the desert. Just when you think that maybe the sound that you love is not so prominent any more you go to something like this and you know that things are still going strong. Thanks Root Society Camp for having us!

Here are some amateur vids I took from the party within the 60ft dome, but 'till next week, peace!

Adam Bozzetto.
