Get 'Nu Skooled'

We beleive this is Mowgli fucking Sydney.

When we heard Mowgli's latest EP was coming out on Deadfish Records, anticipation struck. for the 'Nu Skool' release. He's cooler than the other side of your pillow and boy can the chap write music. He can also write words. Quite well in fact. Suits us, here's a bit about Mowgli from the man himself.

So....my real name is Michele Savasta, I'm Italian, but based in London at the moment.
I started producing when I was 15, I was really involved in the hip hop scene, so I bought a sampler and a keyboard and I had lot of fun doin beats that basically never came out of my bedroom...
Then I did d'n'b for few years and that lasted till I was around 24. Strangely now I don't like it anymore, it makes me anxious....too fast...
But I owe a lot to d'n'b, it's a very difficult music to produce, that forced myself to increase my production skills...
Now it's a couple of years I'm doin house, and I love it, I always loved it to be honest.....I still produce hip hop beats sometime and I wish I have more time to put some more energies into it, I always wanted to do a downtempo album, even just instrumental, smth that you listen when you chill on the sofa. One day I'll do it...

That's Mowgli. And this is the tune, courtesy of Discobelle. If you like it you do as your mum taught you and you purchase the whole, and very cool, Nu Skool EP from Beatport, right here!

Here, There, Everywhere.

With a rise in the number of mixtapes, clips, samples and tunes (or attempted tunes) we've been sent lately, we've decided to layer out a summary for you. There's no logical order behind what we have done, but here's a cross-section of talent for you to pick willingly at. Be sure to click the links to find out more about the respective artist but more importantly, enjoy the tunes!

Trevor Loveys: (click here to find him on Beatport)
He's been in the game for ages, well known for producing top quality, stylish work. He doesn't really do any of that throw-away shit, so he's earned a fair amount of respect in the music community. Below is his remix of Bent's tune 'Always', we're he throws down an old school feel that goes down a treat. The remix is part of an EP (focused on remixes of older Bent tunes) hitting listings on August 17th. Check out the preview below, listed on Discobelle.

Wongo: (click here to find him on Beatport)
We all know the crazy lad from the Goldy, and surely most of you have caught wind of the party he's throwing at the Gold Coast (Ruby Tramp to be exact) under the banner 'Phunkers'. Anyway, he's doing a bunch of mixtape installments to show how jacked up the parties going to be and there pretty damn tasy. Check out our last post regarding the party (at this link) for more information and the 1st installment of the mixtape, or snap up the link below to get edition 2, just like he promised!

Danny T: (click here to find him on Beatport)
We've just gotta chat about Danny, especially after he smashed Monastery around on the Brisbane leg of his national 'Its Time To Jack' tour! He's amazing original effort 'Chico' is out on Beatport any day now, including remixes by Malente, Tom Piper, Baby Gee/Habebe/Benny Electric and The Hump Day Project. We featured a clip of the jackin' jazzy tune awhile ago, perfect for a taste test before you buy the real thing. Here's a repost - grab it then make it a ritual to check Beatport listings (at this link right HERE if you want) so you can snap up the real deal when it drops!

DisCrow:
Keeping in the trend of local punters, Gold Coast resident DJ Ryan Crowe, better known as Discrow, has been smashing out his heavy hitting party tunes in and around South East Queensland. He's also just dropped a new mixtape which he describes as having a bit of everything, from dubstep to electro and jazzy fidget - sure to keep you jiving. Check the tape out and jump on his page via that nice link on his name above.

Honorable Mention:
If it weren't for Trevor Loveys creeping into this post, we would have gone 100% home grown for the whole thing, but then again, 3:1 aren't bad ratios. To make them even better, here's a shout out to the lads from Stupid Fresh who've just thrown out 4 fresh pieces of work. Included are remixes for the likes of Rico Tubbs and Christian Balistrari on labels like Bombsquad, U&A and Rising Recordings. All the tunes can be heard on their Myspace page at the link below, a place where you can also find links to buy their music. DO IT!

MORE Guerilla Farts

Photos by Martin Adolfsson - see link below

Simply visiting Fairtilizer to check up on what's going suddenly put me smack bang in the middle of the whirlwind that Swedish due Dada Life are currently kicking up. While the boys merely claim 'big tunes with no frills' their current production and remix work is up there with the most active boys on the scene (thats tough, considering Crookers pushed out 60+ remixes/originals in 2007). Currently, Dada Life are putting the final touches on their debut album 'Do the Dada' which will be sitting on store shelves by March 9th (which will in turn mark their immediate rise to fame). Before you go and spend your money on that, I snapped up the teams January mix which drops pressure from Malente as well as some tasty original work from the boys (oh, and check out Fairtilizer while your at it).

Anyway, they boys have been releasing 'Guerilla Fart Edits' in which they pick their favorite songs and add that lovely 'Dada' touch to it. Score to Discobelle.net, who has had the plethora of bangers all thrown their way alongside the generous lads putting them all on the Dada Life Official Website. Maybe you remember their work on Boys Noize's track 'Lava Lava' which made it into the FridgeJet monthly top 3. They are up to their 8th edit which brought in the new year, but here are the best half (in my personal opinion) - complete with the Discobelle articles!

More Boys Noize? Yep, Alex Ridha is killing it and he's coming to Empire (WITH TITTSWORTH*) !
*See below for more Tittsworth

Well, Boys Noize got into the whole 'giving' thing more than most this Christmas after providing an unreleased remix of his tasty original, 'Shine Shine'. The remix, done by Shadow Dancer, is just one of the many offerings on the Boys Noize Records Blog which serves as an exposer outlet for all the labels artists (If you forgot, D.I.M, Les Petits Pilous, Shadow Dancer, Strip Steve, Surkin, Boys Noize and the newly appointed DJ Maxximus all call Boys Noize Records home). On top of the unofficial remix of 'Shine Shine', to get in the spirit of new years festivities the Berlin resident released a recorded live set (it was from earlier in the year at 'Durrr') for his 90,000 friends on Myspace. Pretty nice guy... very good music and only $15 if your not lazy? Everyone should be there. Oh, but just in case you still don't know what your in for, here's the live set and a video of Boys Noize making everyone jump. Buy his shit!

HEY!! What About Tittsworth?
Yes, the American shredder is making his way to Australia after his successful album release, 'Twelve Steps'. Regarding the album, URB stated that 'Tittsworth shows with conviction that he doesn't just recycle songs - he creates them'. B-more brilliance pushing its way through Empires doors alongside the mega giant that is Boys Noize! Expensive night? Anyway, our friends over at Discobelle got a post together for Boxing day which incorporated Tittsworth's alternative to having nothing to listen to while wearing the hangover from the Christmas festivites. Check it out and say hi to him at Empire (middle bar) when he plays with Boys Noize!!
