DNM009 - ANNIVERSARY!

Bring out the cake and crack open the champagne; Dubnoir is having its first birthday!

Birmingham based English producer, and Australia’s adopted son Chris James’s Label has well and truly over achieved in its 1st year in the game. From getting big up’s from the likes of Annie Mac on her Radio 1 slot, to receiving support from some of the biggest names in the business, it’s safe to say Dubnoir is rapidly becoming a label renowned for releasing great content. Over the year the impressive line up of EP’s have come from the likes of Kyle Watson, Poligono, Brabe, Jeff doubleu and our man Danny T releasing his first solo EP!

To coincide with the 1st anniversary, the Dubnoir all stars have teamed up to drop an EP with originals from Poligono, Edu K, Headshotboyz, Sick Jargon, Kyle Watson & Robert Boogert. Each artist has gone out and shown off their style with their original tracks. Going from South American heavyweight Poligono laying down huge percs’ and colossal drums to seasoned Dubnoir veteran Kyle Watson following in the footsteps of his 2009 EP “DNM001” with his track “This thing”.  In preparation for their debut release in the coming months, Headshotboyz give us a nasty, but still grooving tune in “something with a beat”.  UK duo  Sick Jargon drop some old school into the mix while  Edu K continues his reputation of churning out hit after hit with "Uirapuru" which is sure to be a winner for the tech house heads out there. Lastly, Rovert Boogert, producer extraordinaire from Holland has cooked up a funky tune that is bound to be a floor filler.

Here’s some samples to get your taste buds excited, then be sure to hop on over to Beatport on May 31st and purchase this awesome release!

DANNY T GOES TROPICAL

Rain, Hail or shine, Danny T's latest solo effort will take you to the place you want to be. Encompassing all the elements of his recent production and live sets, 'Tropical Punch' dishes up a huge summer vibe, arming you with a fresh Pina Colada and thrusting you straight to the Mediterranean!

The funky 4 track EP leaves a straight party aftertaste in your mouth, with three tasty originals from our main man Danny T, plus a remix from Dubnoir's wonder-child Kyle Watson. As expected, Kyle add's his trademark jacked-out funk to 'Vaca Compana', working a slightly different style over an already dominant track. The suitably titled release has already gained support from Dirtybird regular Solo alongside a number of other big name artists, with Dubnoir keeping the 'smash hit' tradition alive and throwing smiles on punters faces worldwide. Due out on March 15th, we've been thrown a number of 192kbps samples by everyones favourite ex-local Chris James, providing the perfect 'try before you buy' opportunity for anyone who's crazy enough to still be sitting on the fence. Click the links about the post, thank the artists, punch March 15th into your diary and wait in crazy anticipation!

The Funkmaster

Classically trained from a young age, Kyle “The Funkmaster” Watson is no new kid on the block. He has climbed the Beatport charts with releases such as “Skewer” and “Doubting You”, both in which have landed in the top 20. He has also won various remix competitions, including one of Goldfish's “Cruising Through” where he topped the 190 participants. Kyle’s unique and distinctive sound is known by many and can be described as a mixture of wobbly jackin’ house funk with a hint of cut vocals and jazzy melodic passages. He continues to deliver quality booty shakin’ beauties, destroying dance floors far and wide, and at only age 22 this prolific producer and DJ is set for big things. Check this young gun out on his Official Website, Myspace, Facebook or Twitter, and watch out for some fresh releases coming your way on Dandy Kid Records, Synapse and a collaboration EP on Jack Union!

South African Booties

"Can you still say you run vinyl because of that authentic, true sound... if your using Serato"

We're all familiar with the work ethic, consistency and down right jackin' vibe that's been pouring out of the South African dance music scene over the past couple of years, and who better to rave about than our two regular SA punters - Dylan H and Royal K! The two trouble-makers have been hard at work releasing tunes all over Beatport, hell... between the pair they have remixed 90% of the fidget and wonky community (we definitely made that up). Both the offerings today have their distinctive sounds, with Royal K choosing to bootleg the smooth, melodic sounds of Calvin Harris (I'm Not Alone) and Dylan H opting for something that we hope will strike a chord for the many 'established' club goers out there. In the end, these ain't no Minstery of Sound's chill out tunes - buckle in!

Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah (Dylan's Yeah Baby Yeah Bootleg)

Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (Royal K's Alone In The Dark Bootleg)

BONUS:
Just to prove that these two are not at odd ends and unlike any other producers from South Africa (we won't even get started on names like Kyle Watson), we have a little offering from a slightly less-established funky charger from over the way. His names Dean Kempson and he goes by the DJ alias 'DJ Cheeky D' (a popular one down under, also used by our very close friend and co-owner of Ho-Ju Records, Duane). He's new in the game and comes from the same crew as the guys we've been raving about above, so the style is not going to shock your socks off with creativity and differentiation, but GREAT starting effort.

Geoff K + B. Rich + Wongo : )

Geoff K:

Coming from the South African posse, where boys like Kyle Watson, Royal K and Dylan H run wild, Geoff K had his work cut out for him. Surrounded by all ages, young and old, it seemed that every production effort stemming from that place was well above par - especially his very own. Geoff K has completed diplomas in sound engineering and gained multiple certificates on various production applications, all driven by a massive passion for music. His time spent in the studio has seen him complete some amazing productions from over the years, remixing everyone from Raymond Mathers to Jimmy Chronic and Troydon, and getting signed to just about every label about. His new mixtape, just completed, gives 60 minutes of his favorites, and boy is it worth it. Two tracks for you two, bootlegs Geoff K has done, nothing fresh - but a taste of his production!

Wongo:

We all know who Wongo is - the mad man from the Gold Coast who can more often than not be found tearing up the UK with the best in the business. That said, we weren't going to pass up the chance to throw his latest tape up here - especially after his recent EP - which we all loved. With this mix, Wongo said he was kicking it into gear and getting back to the true style of Jackin' House and Techno (which after hearing the tape, we definatly cant argue with). He also dropped mention that the hardcore scene is getting a little overwhelmed and to be honest, maybe he's right. Check the tape, jump on his Myspace and say hi and be sure to catch him at Monastery in the coming months.

B.Rich:

As you would of course all remember, we featured B. Rich's previous mixtape and it turns out people loved the style, so naturally we hit him up for tracks and immediatly received Animal, the Knowltan Walsh original. That was just a taste of the bad boy, who is one third of the new record label on block,
Party Like Us Records. Hanging out with guys like AC Slater must have done the Massachussetts local good, as his latest mix is a killer with a tracklist to match. Jump the link now, and be sure to have a listen to his own remix work in the tape - very nice!

Fidget Love From South Africa!

While I am in no way familiar with Kempton Park (South Africa), a short introduction to Dylan Holshausen gave me the impression it has a lot to offer. Infusing elements of funk, fidget and electro, Dylan's sound turned out to be a perfect blend to be placed in 'the fridge'. His production efforts on show today come as a result of an introduction to Mark Stent (the worlds strongest DJ) in 2008 which provided the opportunity and inspiration to master the production side of DJ'ing. It also opened up a whole new world, giving Dylan a chance to get involved in Flexual Records (Mark's label) who are sitting on a dirty, filthy artist base including Nick Supply and Kyle Watson.

Combine a head full of determination, a posse full of talent and a really good taste in music? It spells a big future and it sounds like the links below - be sure to check them all out. His original (and exclusive) is excellent and I recommend his take on the highly remixed 'Where's Your Head At?'. Jump all the links and learn more about Dylan, Flexual Records and his posse (we want to get him back on here soon!).
