Walk Abouts With WoNK - Part 3

 Well Well, It's been a hectic time since I last blogged!

The label is launching on the 23rd of November on mighty BEATPORT.COM/LABELS/WONKED so expect some heavy beats coming out. The First EP has Escobar and Vito vs Young Nutz - The Raver, Young Nutz - The Party and WoNK - Don't Give up Disco. Check it out right here.  The label is run by myself and Dixxie (The other Young Nut) and we have already taken on EPs from the Idiot boyz, Kraymer, Shock an Awe and Si Valdez? vs Tin Dog, plus, on the remix we have Robb G, Kick Oh, Jay force, Blaze Tripp and many more. Demos are being taken for future remixes and originals are being signed so feel free to hit us at wonkedrecords(@)live.com with a demo submission as we listen to everything.

On a personal note i just moved house so the studio had to be taken down and re-set up but my god, the room I have now for it is so much bigger. The sound is amazing so I will be dropping out some heavy tracks including a solo one I'm finishing up at the moment which is called 'Reclaim the Streets' and will be out soon ;)

I shall be at Sankeys 28th November as Young Nutz with Dixxie dropping some hot new bombs along side Dave Spoon and Funkagenda for 'Monkey Funk'. We will be doing a few Vs nights with them once we kick off the WoNKed night so keep your eyes peeled for that. Myself and Young Nutz have just been sponsored by Messy Funk Clothing and that fully kicks off June 4th 2010 with some crazy ass designs that are currently being kept locked in a secret box. A WoNKed tour in April is on the cards as well so more from that over the coming months but its lining up to be a fun one and it will be in Europe plus other areas are being sorted at present. Catch Young Nutz @ Roll Deep in coventry along side Mikey Hook on 30th January next year and at 'The Drop' in Bristol 8th April. For anyone that lives in the midlands and wants to come and show their dj skills off Djs Strut Your Stuff is in full flow at the Glass house in Stourbridge and you can get along and get on the decks for 30 mins and have a chance to win a set at Freque which is always rammed out every month along side the residents which include Dixxie and his Freque dj partner Benoir.

Walk Abouts With WoNK - Part 2

Well after 20 days away on tour, 17 flights, 11 gigs and god knows how many different cities and airports, I'm finally home in my own house with my studio rattling to the sounds of some tasty beats.

After getting back my Young Nutz partner (Dixxie) and I decided to get a label up and running. We wanted to bring the underground to everyone, showcase some fresh talent and also some of the usual suspects. Working hard for the past 3 weeks we have created 2 EP's for the launch which will include tunes by Young Nutz, Myself and Escobar and Vito, who we are doing a bunch of collaborations with including some tasty bootlegs which you will hear soon. As a way to launch the label properly we have decided to showcase some of the talent forthcoming on it and put out a big bootleg package which has bootlegs of Shy Fx - Nuttahz. Already testing out the Young Nutz mix on tour and taking a few vids we realised that it is a much loved tune so decided that you readers should get it free (so watch out its coming very soon).

On top of this bootleg we will also be letting loose our Rhythm flow bootleg that we did with Escobar and Vito. It's a Jack Beats style wobbler, mixing up one of our favorite old skool tunes. The labels myspace is up and running RIGHT HERE so check that out and the tunes and if you have anything please feel free to throw it over.

Gig wise things have been a touch quiet since coming home which is good as I get to relax a bit however I have been playing down at the Glasshouse in Stourbridge on Sundays where Dixxie and our friend Benoir run a night called Djs Strut and open the decks up to new talent as well as us being able to test out the new tunes.

I'm heading down to london for my debut there on Saturday at Hidden which will be awesome i can't wait to see what the london crowd are like and its always good to try a new dancefloor. Keep an eye on the label myspace and of course the wonk and young nutz ones as there are some big things coming.

Remember our last post on Young Nutz, the fresh duo releasing wonky, bouncy tunes. Since their initial (debut if you must) EP, the team have been working up a storm and have since then released a 2nd EP titled 'Oh Shit' on Nu Industry Recordings. To show they havn't sold out now that their tunes are sitting all over the Beatport virtual shelves, the two have released another bootleg to give a free taste of what their about. 'Nut Master', showcased below, has got plenty of original roots that you should be able to pick... and if not, the Zshare filename will give it away. What do you do if you like? Wonk = Half Young Nutz

Young Nutz is the latest collaborative effort in the world of durrrrttyyy dance! With collaborations seemingly in trend (Switch + Diplo = Major Lazer!?), WonK (one of our favorites) and diXXie teamed up to 'bring back the good old rave days they fondly remember and educate the new age clubbers on their style of fidget and wonky beats'. Already, the two have spread the love and produced a number of exceptional bootlegs for the fans, all of which we have set below for your audible pleasure. If you like the sound these two are churning out, check out their expanding works on beatport, where the two have already remixed the likes of Cold Blank and held remix efforts based around MC Freeflow's vocals.
