Geoff K + B. Rich + Wongo : )

Geoff K:

Coming from the South African posse, where boys like Kyle Watson, Royal K and Dylan H run wild, Geoff K had his work cut out for him. Surrounded by all ages, young and old, it seemed that every production effort stemming from that place was well above par - especially his very own. Geoff K has completed diplomas in sound engineering and gained multiple certificates on various production applications, all driven by a massive passion for music. His time spent in the studio has seen him complete some amazing productions from over the years, remixing everyone from Raymond Mathers to Jimmy Chronic and Troydon, and getting signed to just about every label about. His new mixtape, just completed, gives 60 minutes of his favorites, and boy is it worth it. Two tracks for you two, bootlegs Geoff K has done, nothing fresh - but a taste of his production!

Wongo:

We all know who Wongo is - the mad man from the Gold Coast who can more often than not be found tearing up the UK with the best in the business. That said, we weren't going to pass up the chance to throw his latest tape up here - especially after his recent EP - which we all loved. With this mix, Wongo said he was kicking it into gear and getting back to the true style of Jackin' House and Techno (which after hearing the tape, we definatly cant argue with). He also dropped mention that the hardcore scene is getting a little overwhelmed and to be honest, maybe he's right. Check the tape, jump on his Myspace and say hi and be sure to catch him at Monastery in the coming months.

B.Rich:

As you would of course all remember, we featured B. Rich's previous mixtape and it turns out people loved the style, so naturally we hit him up for tracks and immediatly received Animal, the Knowltan Walsh original. That was just a taste of the bad boy, who is one third of the new record label on block,
Party Like Us Records. Hanging out with guys like AC Slater must have done the Massachussetts local good, as his latest mix is a killer with a tracklist to match. Jump the link now, and be sure to have a listen to his own remix work in the tape - very nice!

Apparently Dub be Good

There's no denying the fact that evolution and progression spell change, so its to no suprise that a few years after 'fidget' burst up the scene and took over there's a new genre in town. Dubstep has started to creep in, and lets face it - it's a whole new ball game. Described as 'encorporating grime into 2-step garage sound', the latest craze hits bass levels harder and longer than its predecessors and wields its hands to the underground. While it may be a pain in the ass to dance to, its got some of the hardest hitting producers out there twisting the style into fame. Rusko and Benga have been throwing their stuff in the scene for years and have amassed loads of support internationally - but perhaps one of the most well known around this part of the world is A1 Bassline.

More About A1 Bassline Here

The mysterious young producer/DJ recognised more fame than most when his Girl Thing EP smacked out across blogs around the world and took him upwards of his expectations. In turn, he must of fully accepted the power of blogs, and kicked off his own. Since then he has released an array of free downloads to the general public - keeping everyone stimulated by his dubstep beats and banging them out more and more often. Check out a few of the downloads he has thrown up, then jump onto his blog to get the rest - might as well jump on the dubstep bandwagon hey? Just change your dancing style.

Scratchophone?

Sometimes, you see the coolest thing in the world, then you realise it's already been blogged about . The exact same way you would have in fact! Well anyway, regardless of the fact that our friends over at Penned Madness beat us too it, we just gotta' tell you about the Scratchophone! In our eyes, its the most innovative peice of material out, but heres what the crazy guys who made this thing up had to say!

"The Scratchophone is a portable Scratch instrument, featuring a turntable, tonearm, mixer, a pair of speakers and a rechargeable battery. It is an ”instrumental unity” for scratching: all in one, portable and autonomous! The Scratchophone can be carried and used virtually anywhere in a wide variety of applications: jamming with friends, playing live on stage and even scratching outdoors... Professsional features like the exclusive tangential micro-tonearm for non-skipping scratching, the unique rotary fader box to play in any posture and an ultra-high torque direct drive set it apart from other products for Scratch DJ’s."

Basically, its a crazy peice of material that lets you intertwine everything into one, simple, cordless... beast! Check out the video up top to see this thing in action and while I can't see clubs encorporating it into anything, theres definatly going to be a few guru's out their slamming up You Tube videos of them doing handstands while scratching in some remote location! Check back soon!

Remember Pelski?

In the blogosphere, the slightly mysterious and highly respected 'Pelski' leans on the electro side of things, but none the less consistently blogs some of the best music around. If your looking for a change, its worth a check, especially considering he just dropped his 'Pelski Playlist Part VII'. The playlist series has gained a great load of attention and is generally the - who's who - of international electro at the time its released. Jump on over and grab it while its fresh and maybe you will even enjoy his clothing line he just released? Check that out here!

Wham Bam Shazam! (ITM)

Sure, we threw away the genre constraints that we so openly admit limit Fridgejet's broad minded constraints, but Shazam is just too feel good not to! Like always In The Mix dropped their weekly free download fresh out every monday and this week it was from Perth producer Shazam. With his 'Pool Party' EP just dropped via the very popular Bang Gang 12 Inches label, it was just too hard to pass up. Pool Party was one of our favorite songs to drink a Corona by the pool in late 2008 and with its official release passing now, this had to grab a mention! 'Luckier' is a very downtempo feel good, disco styled song, and its evident that Shazam has had plenty of practice in his producing efforts, having spent the past year remixing the likes of Muscles (which made it onto Digitalism's Kitsune Tabloid mix back in '08) and obviously working on his production, its good to see the EP drop! Check it out and jump on and buy the EP HERE.

Searching the Globe

With a plethora of blog listings and even more music, its pretty safe to say that just about every tune gets its time to shine on at least one URL location. This provides with some very different and interesting production efforts, remixes and even mash ups. The latter of these three caught Fridgejet's eye on the always promising 'Fuck Bad Music' blog earlier this morning when they posted a mash up of The Bloody Beetroots, Little Wayne and Dada - all thrown together by DJ Gray. To us, the producer/DJ is relatively unknown, but has an involvement with the Fuck Bad Music blog and is happy to help out, having provided the acapella and instrumentals so that you at home can try the mash up yourself. Get the acapella/instrumentals here and check out the mash up - maybe even leave him some feedback?

Oooops!

A belated shout-out to Michael Bowie Photography who came along and shot a bunch of awesome photos at one of our sets recently. The likable character has been shooting photos for quite some time and has amassed a great portfolio of even better photos. While his speciality lies in individual photo shoots (at great locations might we add), he took to event photography in an instant and produced a bunch of high quality shots. If your interested in hiring him for individual, event or group photography contact Fridgejet and we will pass you on, or drop him a line on one of the contact links below!

Fanattiicccs!

Jaimie Fanatic let us know about a nice little vid showcased on the infamous YouTube about his time at the Maassilo (Rotterdam) with The Party Squad and Armand van Helden. Looks like the star who did his stuff at Empire not to long ago is getting plenty of partying in alongside pushing out his upcoming (and very anticipated) album drop, dates to be released!

Keen for Ketchup?

Bypass the shitty original artist name and song title and lay focus on who worked their magic after the first version was said and done and you will immediatly become a little more accepting of this track. For those of you who don't know however, Nathan Boon is a 25 year old producer/DJ out of Lincolnshire in the UK and has been dropping fidget bangers ever since Kelevra caught his ear and got him into the game. Drawing aspirating from a wider range of genre's than your average DJ, you never really know what to expect from a new Boon track, but somehow they each manage to be brilliant in their own little way. He has done work alongside 'A Girl & a Gun', Justin James and the heavily featured Dylan H alongside holding an impressive collection of originals. Check the track out, and if you like it - buy his beats now!

Big, Black Friday

Danny T and Fingajigg - two good reasons to get to Monastery this friday the 13th!

Skip an introduction to this wild child, all you need to know is that Danny T will be dropping those wonky wobblers this friday night at Monastery for the best 'Black Friday' celebrations in town. Jump down in your scary attire, walk in for free and enjoy the cheap drinks all night. On top of all this, Ray Antonelli, JMAC and Habebe will be kicking their stuff on until the sun comes up. Sounds like a good night!

Fingajigg (for those of you who don't know) started as two separate stories, each of equal value. Tim Plunkett showed his stuff at the Central DJ comp and took out honors, while his partner in crime Jason Haskell was over at Hotel LA blowing the roof of their comp. Turns out they were pretty good together, given that not long after the pair teamed up to become the duo that now holds residency in the depths of the dirtiest dungeon in town (and our favorite), Monastery Nightclub. Alongside names like Danny T and Killafornia, the boys work their stuff to their ever growing fan base, also keeping themselves busy by dropping in at Basement 388, Planet Nightclub and Barsoma. So know that you know, snap up the set and watch them do their shit live this friday at Monastery!

A Rare Occurrence

Yep, thats right, its on time. This week In the Mix provided one of the best, all round impressive download links to ever grace their page. Showcasing Sia's original 'Buttons' would have been enough to wow the crowds, but they decided to throw up Chris Lakes very catchy spin on the song. In The Mix summed up Sia's success and all its drivers perfectly, so check out the page to get the lowdown on why many will be excited when she makes the trek to Australia later this month. But what about Chris Lake? He's got a bunch of relaxing, melodic house hits including 'If You Knew' (featuring vocals from Nastala) and 'Only One', all of which provide his big room house followers the opportunity to jive to his eclectic live sets. Use this track as an example of what the British DJ/producer can do.

Sia's Tour Dates
Mar 25 – Sydney, Metro Theatre
Mar 27 – Sydney, MTV Awards
Mar 29 – Melbourne, The Corner
Mar 30 – Melbourne, The Corner

Wobble Much Bass?

Of course you all remember Royal K (albeit the fact some of his tracks were only up here for a short time), so its no doubt that since you received the taste testers you have been hunting around for more of his above par production efforts? Well stop searching momentarily, because we've got his new one! While his first release sits at number 55 on the Stompy Electro Download Chart, our man had some spare time on his hands and the resultant effects are the bad boys you see in yellow below. Thats right, two sets and an exclusive original! The good thing is there is no slowing him down, with further remixes due in the next couple of months via Flexual Records, Deep Fried Gold, Champion Beats, GlowstamGround Level UK. He's walking towards his prime and only going to get better! Jump the links and check him out on Myspace and Facebook (for track lists scroll down).

Out Of The Shadows

Their remixing is worldwide and has been recognised and encorperated by the likes of A-trak, The Ed Banger Crew, Chromeo and Mr Oize, finally the debut album for Shadow Dancer drops and trust me - its a treat! The Manchester boys have just dropped 'Golden Traxe' via the highly popular Boys Noize label and success is imminent. Described by our favorites over at In The Mix, the album encorporates their sound of electronica, acid house and space disco - and it all busts through on the complimentry track for this week (In the Mix are great arn't they?) Jump the links and say hi to them on their Myspace before the tune dominates your I-pod.
