FRIDGEJET TURNS 300!!

No, we haven't been around since the 16th Century, but this post happily marks our 300th serving from our now well used Fridge. It's a happy time for the crew, with the realisation that our extremely humble beginnings have actually led us to worthy accomplishment that adequately serves music connoisseurs all over the world. In the past two and a half years we've had a tonne of memories, welcomed new writers, said hello to Ethiopians and waved goodbye to shitty pop-up genres. We've also gained a huge appreciation for the loyal fans that like to read what we write and thus we extend a huge thank-you to all of you - this post is for you! Consider it a randomly generated allotment of tracks, mix tapes, awards and mash ups, all separated into FOUR easy to use sections!

1.0 - THE 300 AWARDS CLUB
After three centuries worth of posts and a funk load of artists, we've thought it necessary to post a few podium positions to honour the artists who really do it for us. While we probably should have done this at 500 posts or even our god damn 2nd birthday, we've done it now so enjoy the awards!

Most Featured Artist: Danny T
Whats not to love? Besides residing in our home town, this guy really can't do anything wrong! He's gone from a well known local to an internationally recognised DJ and he hasn't lost his style or a sense for where he came from. Call it fidget, jackin' house, bumpy house or ghetto bass - the sound this guy has pushed during his extensive DJ and production career is never going to grow stale, especially with his uncanny ability to continual push it to a new levels of freshness. Big ups Danny!

Most Featured Record Label: Potty Mouth Music
Given that our very first post was titled 'Born With a Potty Mouth', its safe to say we've loved what James Amato has done for quite some time. Breaking the mould of crappy, low grade record labels, Potty Mouth releases are a testament to the quality of high level music production in the modern day. With everything from straight up bassline house to funky tech, we've smashed down PMM EP's like they're Corona's, proving that theres very little chance of much changing anytime soon. Congratulations to James Amato and the team for staying true to the somewhat hard to find genre of 'GOOD music'.

Most Downloaded Track: Northie - JSided Mashup
When we receive tracks from Northie, we know they're going to keep the punters happy. What we couldn't have anticipated is just how many people love what Northie production sounds like. After we posted his mashup of Kelis, Justin Timberlake and Jesse Rose, the download quickly reached over 500 downloads and as of today, its sitting at just over 650 DOWNLOADS! Amazing? Yes. Surprising? Not really. Well done Northie, keep killing it and doing us proud!

2.0 - FEATURED TUNES
Here are the tunes we have been sent lately that just cant go without a rave review. They include remixes and originals from the likes of The Surecut Kids, Chnky Chps, Aniki, Slick N Juicy, Major Lazer, Boris Dlugosh and Menno De Meester. Enjoy them all and praise the artists like we've taught you!

We're definitely proud to shoot love at The Surecut Kids during out 200th post. These guys are straight up amazing and they clearly do it for the love of music. Whether it be a production effort or a 4 turntable, MPC live set in a club - the Gold Coast duo get the job done in style. They've just recently celebrated their first 'purchasable' remix effort, coming in the form of their remix for The Psyde Project. We don't really need to say much about the production quality or the 'catchyness' of the tune as The Surecut Kids only do it one way - fucking brilliant! Check the track out and if you like it, buy it HERE.

While we haven't heard of Chnky Chps (no that's not a spelling error), we do know all about Big Poppa Records. It's a new label started out of South Africa and they've just dropped their latest release (March 8th). The 'Eats Everything' EP is a nice mix between bleepy dutch-house-esque sounds and that jackin' feel thats pretty damn prominent in their part of the world. We really felt the original and Aniki vs Slick N Juicy remix so enjoy the samples and purchase the EP right HERE.

I've had these mashups for awhile and each time I play them they go pretty well (despite some minor volume issues that can be fixed with a few quick gain chops). Thought they should be posted given the special occasion. Its quite obvious that both tunes included are heavy hitters and real crowd pleasers, so give them a flog and be sure to pump it out on a set of heavy speakers to hear its full potential. Enjoy and go hit up Menno De Meester for putting in the hard yards and pumping out these rippers!

3.0 - BONUS TUNES
Placing tunes in the 'bonus' section can often be mistaken for a way to push tunes out that we don't think deserve a write up - WRONG. Unlike in the early years, we receive enough tracks to select only a select few to make it to the blog, so appreciate these suckers cause they are great!

4.0 - A TEAM CONCLUSION
To be completely honest, it wasn't that long ago that we were at 200 years old!
It has well and truly been a fucking crazy voyage. After many late nights, daunting morning wake ups with saggy Facebook stained eyes and endless attempts at motivating Dom; it's become almost crazy how motivated and happy the crew still are. It has busted our balls at times but more importantly, the Fridge managed to consistently put a smile on our faces. One thing that never changed was our passion for music and our love in sharing with our readers some of the worlds most prolific and innovative artists in circulation. It has surely connected us all as aficionados, but more importantly - as friends. It's been a real bona fide pleasure working alongside dirty fashionistas, and without sounding to cliche - We'd do it all again! Thanks guys, and we truly hope the next 300 posts are as popular as the previous!

LOVE SAMMY, MOE, DOMINIC & ADAM.
