Gettin' Rich

Our main man from Massachusetts, B. Rich, picked up our acquaintance quite awhile back as he was learning his feet and getting into the production game. Even back then, the snappy works he sent us (check the back post here) signaled that big things were coming and considering he was cruising round town with his two best mates AC Slater and Udachi... things were bound to go well, and here we are. Half a year down the track and a bunch of EP's and jam-packed shows later, we've got a trendy little serving from the busy man. This time, he runs a dubstep tune thats got promise, even if you rolled your eyes when you read that! 'We Ball Harder' was due for EP release (Party Like Us Records link here) but things got a little murky, so he's given us the go ahead and we're throwing it out for everyone to enjoy!

Remember the Gosh?

Goshi Goshi blasted onto the scene awhile back with their debut EP, 'The Lock Shot'. The 'Lock Shot’ EP was massively hyped across blogspehere as well picking up support from Kissy Sellout, Andy George & Jaymo and The Loose Cannons (we wrote about it HERE). ‘Lock Shot’ went on to be signed to Norman Cook’s Southern Fried label and Goshi Goshi continued to make their mark with remixes of The Young Punx and Autokratz for the mighty Kitsune.

Now the guys are back, remixing the Yazz's 1988 original release, 'The Only Way Is Up', adding a fresh swipe to an old game eh? Also on remix duties for the upcoming release are Miami based house producer Robbie Rivera, The Tastemakers alter-ego, Soulmakers deliver something for the funkier floors whilst a big room trance mix comes from Nathan C & Ben Preston. Here for you we have the Goshi Goshi take on the whole thing, enjoy it and follow them up!

Romance Raised My Pants

Remember how we were telling you about the hip/rad/cool new nightlife photographers snapping great pics under the banner 'Romance In My Pants'? Well the boys, Dave and Steve, are really getting things kicking now, with the launch of their 'Face of Romance' competition earlier in the week. The basis is finding a cool new happy snap to use as main background for all their future promotional artwork and so on and so forth, via the most likes on their Facebook page. Turns out its a pretty cool (and free) competition, with the winner receiving a 5 person VIP pass to kick it with AJAX at the next Fuck Fluro (GPO)... pretty mint huh? We're going to keep an eye out over the photos, and we might throw a bit of promotional glory to our favorite over the next week, but for now check out everything we have talked about at the two precious links below:

South African Booties

"Can you still say you run vinyl because of that authentic, true sound... if your using Serato"

We're all familiar with the work ethic, consistency and down right jackin' vibe that's been pouring out of the South African dance music scene over the past couple of years, and who better to rave about than our two regular SA punters - Dylan H and Royal K! The two trouble-makers have been hard at work releasing tunes all over Beatport, hell... between the pair they have remixed 90% of the fidget and wonky community (we definitely made that up). Both the offerings today have their distinctive sounds, with Royal K choosing to bootleg the smooth, melodic sounds of Calvin Harris (I'm Not Alone) and Dylan H opting for something that we hope will strike a chord for the many 'established' club goers out there. In the end, these ain't no Minstery of Sound's chill out tunes - buckle in!

Bodyrox - Yeah Yeah (Dylan's Yeah Baby Yeah Bootleg)

Calvin Harris - I'm Not Alone (Royal K's Alone In The Dark Bootleg)

BONUS:
Just to prove that these two are not at odd ends and unlike any other producers from South Africa (we won't even get started on names like Kyle Watson), we have a little offering from a slightly less-established funky charger from over the way. His names Dean Kempson and he goes by the DJ alias 'DJ Cheeky D' (a popular one down under, also used by our very close friend and co-owner of Ho-Ju Records, Duane). He's new in the game and comes from the same crew as the guys we've been raving about above, so the style is not going to shock your socks off with creativity and differentiation, but GREAT starting effort.

Stand Out from Clutter!

There's approximately 2 million remixes of Lee Mortimer's 'This Is Real Shit' which was thrown out to punters for a remix comp by the guys and girls behind 'Chew The Fat'. We've showcased a number of the efforts by our regulars, but here's a taste of a little more hearty peice. In our opinion, Timoshii sent us through the most promising work, layered up and filled out very nicely. We've got the tune for you below as the growing fidget/electro producer has much bigger things on his plate. Grab the details on his current and forthcoming releases below, check the tune and jump on his Myspace and say hi!

New Blood!

Black Candy Productions have been tearing up Empire over the past couple of months - haven't you heard? From Moon Bar to Corner Bar, they've thrown parties in every light of Empire - complete with whacky themes, hot dogs, computer games, jelly shots and more! It's this fresh style that's had the lines backing up and dance floors filling more and more as each night rolls through town.

Inline with their anti-hero attitude, the BC boys have brought a new, young breed of DJ in to do the honors for all their parties. From the outside the names wont make you gasp, but its certainly a breath of fresh air when you walk into the parties, never knowing which DJ will be mashing up what genre. DJ Ryles has been jammin' out killer early sets at the Cornered parties lately, smashing out perfect tunes for any timeslot he's given. The diversity in his music has him walking into Empire Middle Bar come July 24th for 'Front to Front' (pres by Brand Spank'd). Don't know what to expect? Check out his mixtape below, get on it and check him at the upcoming Black Candy parties!

DJ Ryles - 1Am Mix (July 2009)

BONUS - Donnie & Brasco have also lived through the Black Candy lifespan and have a new tech house mini mix available, definitaly worthy of mention.

Ping Pong & Party Tunes!

Adam Bozzetto doesn't need an introduction. He's sick! Remember? We've raved about him a bunch of times on here, jumped around to his sets at Monastery and to be honest, we're always smashing out his mix tapes in our cars and on our I-pod's. Monday afternoon seems like a good time to spread a little more Bozz love, complete with his latest mix tape and remix work on the very, very popular Bass Kleph tune, '$pend My Money' (Vacation Records... check the EP here). His remix effort is certainly going to take the top spot choice wise for many DJ's out there, with a heavier big room electro feel and a breakdown that chops and dices at the original vocal. You'll also find the mix tape everything you have come to expect from the creative producer/DJ, complete with track list on download. Check the links throughout the post and buy the tunes below! If you like the mix tape, check Adam Bozzetto tearin' it up at the Phunkers party in August (check event here), run by Wongo!

Favoured Late Night Addictions

Oh... look what time of year it is.

We would be idiots if we sat here and explained that its currently voting season for the Annual Sony In The Mix Top 50, because let's face it, the spamming makes it pretty
damn obvious. Never the less, many DJ's have worked their ass off since last year and deserve the recognition brought about by that final ITM ranking. Call us bias for bringing up a Brissy crew, but looking at whats going on under the Late Night Addiction (LNA) banner, we gotta' give them a shout out.

First up, Danny T has just kicked off his 'Time To Jack' tour (get tour dates here) and is on the back of a bunch of impressive releases while warming up for his latest bangin' EP, 'Chico', to hit the Beatport listings. He's also tearing up a bunch of weekly club nights alongside tonnes of international superstars, all while doing the LNA banner proud. Below is a 320 sample of none other than his latest effort, 'Chico', which should give you just enough to keep you going until the EP drops mid July.

Alongside Danny's jackin' talents, founder of LNA and Family resident Habebe has caused a stir in the Aria club charts with his colabrative remix of 'Teardrop' with Benny Electric sitting at #24 - providing a perfect sound for his big room house set's at the very popular, 'Saturday's @ Family'. Not to be outdone, Baby Gee (Currently #4 in ITM rankins) has sealed up a sweet year bangin' tunes to the masses every chance he can get, consistently stomping his authority in the Australian DJ scene. Furthermore, Bass Kleph's very popular Vacation Records have signed to release Toby / Zulu to get the Baby Gee love spread - due to hit charts in October! Below is a nice little LNA zip file with 2 clips of the tracks we've raved about here, consider it their present to you.

JC Edit + Kraymer

While very few of us need an introduction to the hometown hero that is JC Edit, the name Kraymer may not ring familiar in many of your ears. So here goes, Kraymer is a 21 year old producer/DJ from Melbourne currently spitting out tunes with, try and guess... bass! (every DJ's biography says that in our experiences). He spits out originals and remixes that at times leave a Jack Beats taste in your mouth (see his 'Aura' remix) and he is sitting on the back of two freshly released EP's, the 'JUNKY TRUNK' and 'LPH' releases. In the meantime, Kraymer's been doing his own little twist on our very own JC Edits original tune - 'Drop It Fool'. We have both to throw your way below + links to get in touch with the boys and let them know what you think - PEACE!

Bonkers?

As the Royal K name begins to plaster the walls of Beatport more and more, the friendly guy continues to throw out bootlegs of his excellent work for lack of his own benefit, but rather to show just what he can do. Respect The Man!

Remember our last post on Young Nutz, the fresh duo releasing wonky, bouncy tunes. Since their initial (debut if you must) EP, the team have been working up a storm and have since then released a 2nd EP titled 'Oh Shit' on Nu Industry Recordings. To show they havn't sold out now that their tunes are sitting all over the Beatport virtual shelves, the two have released another bootleg to give a free taste of what their about. 'Nut Master', showcased below, has got plenty of original roots that you should be able to pick... and if not, the Zshare filename will give it away. What do you do if you like? Get Phunked!!

Wongo, the main man from the Gold Coast, has thrown together a jackin' party night at The Ruby Tramp (GC), titled 'Phunkers' (Check the link). If all goes to plan, August 7th will bring a spazzed out wacky smacky jam to the Ruby Tramp featuring Chris James (UK), Adam Bozzetto (Syd), Wongo (GC) plus residents Zare and Jimmy, one of the Gold Coast's own Down N Dirty DJs. In conjunction with the nights, Wongo has decided to release fortnightly mixtapes showcasing some of his more tightly knit tuneess. We know its going to be good, but just to prove his skill, we've included a live set recorded from that crazy night he popped into Monastery recently. Both tapes garunteed to have you bouncin' in your car.

With as many aliases as EP releases, the differentiation and quality of music coming out of the Calvertron corner is increasingly popular, with no limitations on the sort of artists calling him up for remix work. His style is big room and is fitting in perfectly with the sold out gigs he's been smashing lately. Regardless of who he's playing as or with, the man himself hasn't put a foot wrong when it comes to pleasing the crowds - so who's to doubt him. Check out his work on 'Jump In The Pool' the Friendly Fires original, and tell us we're wrong!

The boys have upped the anti when it comes to their offerings and have a huge night lined up within the month (keep updated at the freshly launched BC Productions blog here). Also, take some time out and reflect on the (shitty and small) Black Candy photo tribute we compiled thanks to the boys at Romance In My Pants. These guys have been showing their perspective on the valley nightlife while awaiting the launch of their official website (HERE) and throwing the photos up on Facebook for all the nightlife addicts out there to enjoy. Think they might have snapped you? Check the Facebook page and enjoy!

Just Remember:

Nice Aniki!

In celebration of his new Myspace design (found at myspace.com/anikino or here), Aniki has released three free goodies for all to 'use and abuse' (blatant rip). In typical Aniki style, he keeps the claps dirty and jacks up the bassline on all three of these bad boys, calling in the regular Mr. Eyez to help out with 'Speaka Chocka'. What Morals?

The awesome team at Ho-Ju Records may not have popped up on here recently, but here's the post the proves they sure have been busy. Brisbane producer Koochie has been showing she's serious about tunes over the past year, showcasing original work that soon caught the eye of the Ho-Ju-Crew. This saw the birth of the Loose Morals EP, a huge release featuring two massive originals from Koochie, splattered with remixes by Breakdown, Aniki & Bling Fingah, Analouge and Edu K. 'Losing My Mind' takes the cake for us, with a catchy tone and building feel its sure to smack some dancefloors around in '09. The friendly crew happily sent us over some clips to feature, and we've decided to throw up our favorites, incl the two originals and the Analouge remix of Funkin' Ass.
