Good Vibrations EP

The word from Champion Beats Records is that Frederik Mooij sent over a killer track awhile back. The pinpoint ears from the crew loved what they had received, but knew it could do with some solid vocal work over the top. "Let us introduce you to our friend Mic Fresh" they said. Mr Mooij and the Champion Beats Crew knew the result was going to be something special but even they can acknowledge that none of them had any idea just how big the Good Vibration EP would end up. Record label owner Anthony 'Melting Man' Hudson stated "Good Vibration is one of the greatest EP's Champion Beats has had the pleasure of releasing" and we damn well agree. This shit is huge!! Add Jayforce, Matt Cox, Damn Bell Doors, Melting Man and Jon-E Industry to remix duties and its a fail safe plan. Check out the 128 samples below for a few taste testers and once your hooked, buy the EP at Beatport immediately!

Snoop/Dre/Melting Man!

Champion Beats head-honcho and ripper producer The Incredible Melting Man has just thrown together his second bootleg of all time. The UK DJ/Producer felt it necessary after the success of his previous 'Hypnotize' booty and we are glad he did, with his latest effort providing a jacked up take on a great original track your sure to know. Setting his sights on Snoop & Dre's 'Next Episode', the sound emitted from the mp3 located below is what we've come to expect from the talented and friendly ripper, with a nice wobble accompany more than your daily serve of bass. Enjoy that shit and watch for the latest Champion Beats Record feature coming ASAP!

BOOOOOOM!

Hijack vs Santiago & Bushido

What happens when three of Potty Mouth Music’s most established producers team up in their first ever studio collaboration?  Think samples, synths and instrumentation galore. The end result is “Way Back EP,” a four-track mix of house, percussive and peak-hour grooves that draw influences from the distinct styles of PMM’s Jon Chant (HiJack) and Chris Santiago and Tim Bushido (Santiago & Bushido).  The inception of PMM 033 dates back to spring 2009, when UK-native HiJack toured the States on the strength of his “Jackpot” (PMM05) and “Keep It Real”(PMM 022) EPs. Between gigs, he caught up with Chicago-based production duo Santiago & Bushido and settled in for some studio time.

The result was Way Back, which is a track all three of us made together,” Bushido says.

A series of overseas emails soon yielded two remixes—one completely done by HiJack and another styled solely by S&B. “Putting it Down,” the EP’s other original track, was also crafted through a collaborative series of audio exchanges. “Jon started it and got the core of the track—we beefed it up a bit and added our trademarks to it and mixed it down,” Bushido says.

It’s definitely a groover for house heads with some fresh samples and chunky beats,” HiJack quips. We agree! Check the samples below compliments of Potty Mouth Music and jump the EP on Beatport RIGHT HERE!!

YUPPPPP!

Local Hero's

Where would we be without locals? The ex-punters who break that tight knit clique and set their fantasies up behind the decks, jammin' their hearts out regardless of how many people are staring back at them. Yep, there's truely something about the determination and drive that comes hand in hand with having a goal, regardless of what it might be. Consider this post a cross-section of Brisbane talent. Tunes, mixtapes and crazy banter included!

Tag Team
Perhaps one of the most understated DJ contingents doing the rounds in Brisbane are the boys from Tag Team (AKA Rhys Dunmall & George Carmichael). The lads have been kind enough to drop off an exclusive little festival mix tape for your listening pleasure. Their new mix was made after witnessing both Erol Alkan and Tiga fuck shit up at Parklife, with the duo finding it necessary to recreate some of the magic that was dropped that fateful evening…

Tag Team Festival Mix

Deuce Disco
These boys play a wide variety of sets inclusive of straight up dancefloor destroying club sets and alternative chillout tunes (with everything in between). Always looking for a new way to challenge themselves Deuce have begun producing together under the guidance of fellow party animal Tommy Haas. The two have been busy over the Xmas break putting together a few tapes and putting the finishing touches on some mash-ups and edits for the upcoming CHEAP THRILLS Festival in February. Check em out at the Soundcloud link below and see if they tickle your fancy!

Robert Evans
Establishing his style via the comfy and very loud confines of Empire middle bar, friendly DJ/Producer Robert Evans has well and truly kicked the door down to enter the cut throat Brisbane late night industry. Via his wobbled out, jacked up main room sets and increasingly promising original work, this Brisbane DJ has a pretty clear idea of where he's headed, but always makes sure to remember where he came from. Perhaps its this level head that has the most part of Brisbane respecting his alter-ego and the work ethic that comes hand in hand. Check out the original below! BANG.

Werrrrddd.

Get to the Point!

We spend plenty of time writing. Heaps in fact. This time, we have decided to fuck the words off (to an extend). It's pretty much all audible from here on out bitches! Enjoy xx.

This one is straight up catchy. We don't need to say much more, especially considering Zodiac Cartel are behind it. You know its a winner already.

As we have come to expect from our main man Calvertron, he gets this tune done in a big way. He's not one for open sets, as you could probably already tell.

Kastle is the new side project by bass and dub sensation B. Rich. His dub side shines threw on this one. You can also catch the tune placed neatly in his latest mixtape just below :)

SonicC

La Bombe is the new focus of producer and DJ, Sharooz.

His mission? Represent the best in new, dirty dancefloor electornica.  La Bombe will be home for all new Sharooz productions, plus original tracks and featured remixes from blogger all stars, seasoned production stalwarts, and up-and-coming young blud well worth the props.

Enjoy, but be prepared to wait if your chasing the 320. It's due out mid feb!! Exhibit A is his upcoming release Saccharin in which he has called on the very hyped up Miami wunderkid SonicC for remix duties, and boy did he put some effort in. Something that hasn’t gone unnoticed in blogspehere. With the likes of DiscodustGottaDanceDirty, and Louis Louis all chomping at the bit to post the remix ahead of the game, this ‘high-rising’ sonic punch in the face gives La Bombe it’s first point on the score-card.

Breaking It Down

Party Shocker? Jaw Dropper!
What are we on about? Jeff T of course.

Stamping his name in early 2008 into the EDM industry with his remix of DJ Dan's "Illectrolingus", Mr. T has been an avid producer and remixer sporting respected labels such as InStereo, Eden, PBR, Moist Music and Interscope Records. Resonating with skills as an experienced sound engineer and drummer, his sound incorporates all the relishing elements of electronic dance music with chunky beats, funky bass lines and massive build-ups.

It's one thing to talk about it, and another thing to listen. We've been treated with some high quality versions today of only a sample of Jeff’s productions, so show your ears some love and perhaps our ramblings will make some sense!

Ei8ht - Am I Dreaming (Jeff T Remix) (256KBPS MFire)
Hasta Manana (Jeff T Remix) (256KBPS MFire)
How We Do It - Jeff T ft. MC Whiskey Pete (256KBPS MFire)
Jonny Lexx -  Record Baby (Jeff T Remix)  (256KBPS MFire)

Also be the first ears to breakdown with Jeff's new (virgin) remix, out on beatport soon!

Giving us the low down, Jeff told us: It's been great!  A lot of studio time. I have been wrapping up some final touches of a few different remixes, and an original track. One mix is for a group called Cold Blank, the track is called "Dutchie" It's on that big bottom dutch house sound with some searing top synths, pulsing white noise… crazy build... It should be out soon on beatport.com. 2010 is already ramping up to be big.  Plans for releases on PBR, Potty Mouth Music... Instereo... gonna be a massive year so stay tuned!!!

You can hear Jeff thumping the boundaries of EDM on Di.Fm with ‘The Bounce’, a 2 hour showcasing of both his own productions and guest mixes from artists representing his local vicinity.

Jeff T- The Bounce 009 (Right Click Save Link As)

There's no wonder why Carl Cox, Moby and Eddie Halliwell support these tunes!

Bird Peterson!

Ocelot are James Welsh and Cory Kilduff.

Their new track 'Our Time' is taken from their forthcoming debut album 'No Requests', out in 2010, and it's one of the first tracks the duo wrote ‘together’… “We started out writing while I lived in Austin, Texas and the Jimmy lived in Leeds, UK. Pieces of the track would get sent back and forth over iChat until riffs and arrangements began to take shape. When it came time to do the vocals neither of us wanted to sing so the vocoder was an obvious choice.”

Having already enjoyed the first nibble of blog recognition earlier this year, the track now comes with new remixes from Kap10Kurt, Bird Peterson and Calvertron. “Kap10kurt was immediately on a short list of people we wanted to remix the track” says Cory, "His affinity for 80's movie montage songs resonated with us in a big way. We wound up swapping mixes and remixed his track Mission Complete".

Today we have the Bird Peterson remix, as you probably could have guessed. A heavy style, elements of dubstep and grime. TUNE!

Adam Bozzetto Says Hi (January)

Hey all. Let's kick things off by throwing around a few tunes I like playing at the moment. Golden Bug’s newish track called Assassin first of all. I think I like it because it's hip hop meets electronica. Second I am back with a Riva Starr remix of the Gossip. I am not a massive Gossip fan but I think if you download this you will here the section of the song that caught my interest!

Assassin, Golden Bug
The Gossip, Love Long Distance (Riva Starr remix)

Moving on, every now and then I help out the Heap’s Decent guys. Heaps Decent is a label/collective of people that help underprivileged members of the community play and make music. It was started by Diplo and two Sydney guys, Nina Agzarian and Andrew Levins. To see more go to heapsdecent.com. It's amazing who they have gotten on board to help out so far, all of which you can see on their website. Anyway I was lucky enough to have Mad Decent’s artist’s Maluca come over to record some vocal’s and help write with one of the Heaps Decent rapper’s, D-minor. Was awesome to work with such an amazing artist like Maluca, which was definitely a highlight of last year, especially when she turned up with another Mad Decent artist Paul Devro! The track we recorded should be up on the Mad Decent Blog soon!

About 6 months ago I did a remix for an Italian group I am into called Pink is Punk. Just by chance I was in Jakarta when they were on the Indonesian Tour in December. I went down to the club to play with them and it was a great gig. It was the first time I had met them face to face which was cool. The gig was at Budda Bar (yep the same people that do those compilation CD’s) which is probably one of the best clubs I have been to in Jakarta. The night before I caught Aeroplane play there which was awesome. Here is the remix I did for the Pink is Punk guys if your interested.

Pink is Punk, It Must Be My Lucky Day (Adam Bozzetto remix)

Last thing is my new mixtape. There is a remix I did for Muscle’s on here which was done almost a year ago and was due to be released on Modular but we all know about the fall out that happened with Muscle’s and Modular. I would like to add that my personal experiences with Muscle’s were all positive. Also there a couple of new tracks which will be coming out on Potty Mouth Music next year. Enjoy!

Danny T & Chris James

Needing no introduction, Danny T and our favorite temporary Australian resident Chris James sure did make a bang with their latest release on Dubnoir Music. DNM005, aka the 'Tales From The Middle East' EP, proves just how versatile the duo are. Combining that great tech-house sound with some trademark jackin' hits and a number of 'carnivale' sounding hooks results in a new and fresh sound, undoubtedly something the two are very proud of. So what do a few of the heavyweights think of it?

KYLE WATSON (POTTY MOUTH); "Well put together EP this, really enjoying the sound and atmosphere of Return To Klezmer! Deep down tech rumble, sounds great!
WONGO (JACK UNION); "Eeppiciccc"
KID KENOBI / TWO FRESH (KLUBKIDS) "Yo this some serious funky Afro bisness!!!! Lovin it!"

As you can probably already tell, we were mighty impressed by the offering, so you can imagine the smile that crept across our faces when we noticed a few 198kbps samples relaxing in our inbox, not to mention TWO fresh DNM mixtapes from the boys. Knowing well and truely that these impressive audio creations deserved much more than to go mouldy in our crowded inbox, we got on posting them straight away... straight away by our standards that is! Who gives a fuck, here they are now!! Enjoy the samples alongside the mixtapes and buy the real deal at that big f#%k off link below! Thank us Later :)

From the ashes of the Kosovo war, from the flames of history, rises WOLFIE!

With a flourishing love for Tropical House and Techno, the new production label come only to be known as 'WOLFIE' defines a fresh pinnacle of underground tunes other than just eschewing 'ratta tat tats'. Giving birth to a contemporary minimal sound, Wolfie's production makes full use of the accessibility of the house genre by moving away from heavy baselines and making grooves off nothing but percussion.

Wolfie tells us: "I'm really enjoying the new movement of minimal tech and have brought in my own style of tropical house through my music".

Don't take our word for it. Seriously.

Stay upto date with the rise of WOLFIE through Myspace (New EP due for release very shortly). He can be found hunting around the dark at Empire Hotel on Friday nights. Don't blame us if you get bitten though!

FRIDGEJETS 2009 WRAP UP

Well what a year that was.

Given that the team at Fridgejet expanded by two, implemented six new monthly guest columnists, surpassed 50,000 friendly visits, survived multiple interviews, gained readership worldwide (including two regular readers from Ethiopia, shout out!), showed the fans how wacky Wongo is, spotted itself on nine new mailing lists, supported over 30 events, made and lost a promotional video, signed a full time graphic designer, sought out a full time useless fool, partied alongside FUKKK OFFF and Pase Rock, received over 500 track submissions and even fully exposed Adam Bozzetto’s ping pong addiction to the world – you can forgive us that this end of year wrap up is a tad late. In all honesty, perhaps we can push the eight ball and ask forgiveness for the whole month of December, ‘twas the season to be jolly.

Let’s keep in the theme of celebration though. New years was rocking for the whole crew and the hangover, while not quite rivaling a tiger in the bathroom and additional children, was quite rugged. With that behind us, we can kick into the new year and prove we’ve got bigger and better things to prove!

To round out this post we have to thank you, the people. Not just for getting this far through a crappy spiel, but for finding your way onto this site in the first place. Over 8,000 of you kind people browse the contents of the fridge on a monthly basis, a statistic we thank you all for. Without your support, writing would be boring. We also have to thank our monthly writers for their continued support, and don’t worry, we realise those guys and girls are the ones you fans love hearing from! Suitably, a few of them have written a short ‘whatever the fuck they want’ to round out 2009 and/or bring on 2010!

ADAM BOZZETTO - 'Ping Pong and AIM Rocks!' *
WONGO - "I know my posts aren't really worth anyone's time but thanx for taking the time to even read this. This year has been full of spiritual becoming's and mindful blessings. Today we take this chance to look back on what made us, US in 2009. US meaning United States, as I now think Australia is a United State of Australia. We are now one. So lets bring on 2010 and hope to change our name to Ethiopia so we can change our name to USE, as there's a large amount of Australians that like to USE things we shouldn't. LETS DO IT!"
MOE - sleepless nights. square eyes. melted dodo brains. hot debates. deaf sound. orchestra mixtapes. time wasting. man boobs. fridgejet. win.
SAMMY
- 'What Moe said minus that melted dodo brain shit'
WONK - Just wana say a big thanx to all the blog readers for showing love and support over the past year. The fans have made the gigs amazing and i can't wait to tour and see you all again and meet new ones. Keep an eye on the blog for a special free track coming at you very soon. Love ya all xx

Here’s an assortment of treats to kick off the new year //

Sammy, Moe & Dominic.

A Sample of Sampology.

Into the new decade with the art of turntables in his hands, new-school, home-brewed and monkey-bred local kid Sampology sits down next to mind numbing amen breaks at the rungs.

Playing genre's termed: 'whatever you want', Sam not only plays the tunes that make you want to party, but his creative use of visual clips and music videos throughout the use of two turntables and mixer is enough to make any audience feel warm and gooey inside. With his grimiest ideas coming to birth in the bedroom, Sam continues to rock a range of clubs with his very unique party vibe.

Fumbling with some of our serious Brisbanite love, we salute you! Because playing that good groove never sounded so... interesting! Check out his December Mixtape after the jump.

Sam is also working his magic at Good Vibes 2010
