ITM Weekly Remixed

This week, In the Mix provided a free download link of a different kind. Filling the lucky 'inthemix.com/freedownload' slot was not a fresh club track or dirty Bass Kleph mix but rather a video of American trio N*E*R*D. The short film showcases the rehearsals and antics before the show, the live performance and everything in between. Definitely different to the usual offering you would find in The Fridge but change is good. Check out the video, if you like it fork out some money for the 2009 Future Music Festival which the American boys are headlining. Check it out!

Ouch?

The Crookers in Sydney - bad crowd surfing attempt.

FridgeJet's December Christmas 3!

This months top three, while still delivering excellent performances by outstanding artists, may have been a little rushed due to Christmas commitments. That aside, it became evident that artists and producers may have the smallest holidays bar none, considering some of the EP work the UK fidget boys have got coming up (see what Calvertron and Heavyfeet are up to). Heavyfeet claim they are 'entering studio hibernation soon' which is a prize for all of us in the new year. Aside from that, Kelevra (UK again) is also throwing out Christmas cheer having just recently released his Clean Jeans EP via FridgeJets favourite label - Potty Mouth Records. Forget that, more about Kelevra later, here's the top three!

The Italian boys have been throwing together mixes for awhile and have plenty more to come, but this one caught my ear pretty well. Its racy like a Superbeatz song, its got a catchy sound and never shows any signs of weakness. What's more, the almighty (in my mind) Bloody Beetroots remixed 'Sexo Perfecto', the Supabeatz original - which makes them even better somehow!

From !Tashed
Favorite DJ's therefore minimal description required. The Bloody Beetroots distinctive, hard charged sound skyrocketed their worldwide popularity, further enhance by the release of their highly anticipated EP, 'Rombo'. Pushing out remixes of The Kills, Robyn, MSTRKFT and The Crookers scribbled their distinctive style all over the scene and forced people to love them. 'Cornelius' is just what you would expect from a late 2008 EP offering from some of the best DJ's out of Italy (tied with Crookers?). To top it off, Bob Rifo compiled 'The Death of Cornelius', a musical reflection on the creation of the relatively mysteriously produced track (which Techijo went on to remix!). Check out what AsianDan had to say and listen to the overture here.

Kelevra is absolutely killing it at the moment. I pulled this one from Redthreat after they were kind enough to throw Kelevra's EP up earlier in the month. The EP features remixes from DJ BamBam and Kyle Watson and is a full banger. Not only that, but the UK madman put together an excellent Potty Mouth mixtape, 'Midnight - 6am' (Dec 2008). Killer track selection and Kelevras 'cant fake it' style makes it worth the transfer to CD for a residency in your car.

Track Listing somewhere around here <--

Honourable Mention:
A mention must go to just one more UK killer, Hijack, who as promised has completed weekly mixes for the last three weeks. His third installment came through two days ago and is one of the better mixtapes I have set on repeat. Surprising considering he's doing them weekly. Check out the original post here and grab the mixtape if you haven't already!

... once again the FridgeJet Monthly Top Three was sourced via Hype Machine entries.

Keeping With Mixtape Fever

Turns out Killafornia has been working his stuff out too having just polished off his latest mixtape, 'Jackin It'. Great mixes and a killer song selection make it much of the same for the local boy, proving why he's playing week in, week out at Brisbane's best clubs. Click the 'Killafornia' link on the right hand side of the page to see a complete archive of what he's thrown in the fridge.

Still Running On Time

The optimistic and challanging goal of throwing together an international quality mixtape every week turns out to be pretty easy for UK DJ/producer, Hijack. On his third instalment of the weekly mixtape series, Hijack throws out another great offering kicking stuff off with some nice Crookers I had hardly heard before and keeps kicking it from there. Check it out and thank him on his myspace!

All Them Boys Noizes

One big shout out to Boys Noize who is absolutely killing it at the moment. He's coming to Australia soon to wow crowds at the Summerfieldayze stops and he's definitely big on partying. BNR Vol 1 came out recently for the German DJ, with an awesome track listing and some killer mixing, its worth buying right now from here. The nice guy also throws his whole albums on myspace, so you can listen to them all and then download it once you know you love it. Apparently he killed it on SOULWAXRADIO too! Anyway, disk 1 of BNR kicks off with his edit of Mein Neues Fahrrad, Siriusmo's original work. Its a ripper and 'Welcome To Dance Club' agrees after they posted a killer post specifically regarding Boys Noize work with Siriusmo, the German DJ producer. Click the link below to read what Welcome to Dance Club had to say and check out the two tracks.

PusssyyyEP!

At the moment, it would be hard to avoid writing a post about Nadastrom, aka Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom. After jumping around to Dave Nada at Stereosonic in Brisbane, I chased around and realised that his collaborative efforts with the other half of Nadastrom were soon to churn out a fresh EP - Pussy, via Dubsided Records. The 4 track EP already gained rave reviews from iDJ and DMC magazines and features just what the two are known for. Penned Madness posted the lead track from the US duo's EP and raved about it and, well, in the end I just had to pass it on. The Penned Madness article is available here and is definitely worth a read. The boys and girls over at Funkism also payed tribute to the Nadastrom duo today, showcasing their work with talented produced and DJ, Blaqstarr (see the article here).

Everyone's an Enemy

This one was sent over by a keen promoter full of fresh stuff from London (more about that later) and while it feels like I've herd the vocals thousands of times, its a good mash up. Pairing Public Enemy's 'Bring The Noise' with the bleeped, fast paced Zinc track didn't send me into a craze on paper but hearing it left me impressed. Then again, BBC Radio 1's Zane Low made it his 'Hottest Record In The World Right Now' a few weeks ago, so maybe I should be more than impressed. Anyway, check it out for yourself, get a flash back and try to find out more about the track!

Wake Up - It's here!

This week, In The Mix gave the royalities to Melbourne boyfriend/girlfriend duo ZZZ. Somehow, their catchy music is described as a mix of shoegaze, live electronics and melodramatic pop song - but it just turns out to be all fun. Very different to the usual Fridge Jet material, but worth a shout out, especially considering it came out on Bang Gang Inches! Jump on ZZZ's myspace and if you like the track, snap up their EP out now.

No Stopping This

Just as promised, up and comer DJ Kayli sent over his remix this week and its a nice piece of work. Tearing up Khia's track 'My Neck My Back' straight from Atlanta, the sounds work well and give the track that fidget taste we all love. Kris is planning on working hard over the christmas period and getting a few more mixes thrown together and promised to send them this way. But for now, lap this one up and jump on his myspace and say hi!

Extra Bass by Bass Kleph

As per usual, monday morning right on time In The Mix provided readers with a download link to a fresh track and as per usual, its a keeper. Vacation records most recent signing Ben Colin gave them something to cheer about with his latest release, Doov. More so, Bass Kleph and Northie did their thing on the track making the release look pretty tempting. ITM decided to go with Bass Kleph's remix of the song (Check out Northie's remix here) and it definitely goes down a treat. The 'extra bass edit' suggests typical Bass Kleph and while its obvious he's laid down plenty of low EQ, the song never goes too crazy. Check out the In The Mix article and download the song!

Moshi Moshi...?

True new kids on the block Goshi Goshi have just signed with record label MofoHifi (via the Young Punx) and the resultant effect turns out to be pretty fresh. The London based DJ's push out a fresh, original and catchy tune on par with very establised DJ's production efforts. We snapped this one up 3 hours ago from Data Sapiens and thought it was definitely worth a share. 'The Lock Shot' isn't your typical FridgeJet tune but is certainly catchy - described as 'a programmers/producers goldmine, packed with ideas and silly noises tailored to drive any dancefloor crazy' (Jerry Bouthier M6/M8). Annnyway, check out Data Sapiens, listen to the song and jump on Goshi Goshi's myspace to say hi!

Fresh As Fuck!

Not even joking, this IS fresh as fuck. Killafornia just polished off his latest one and its a nice demonstration of what the Fidget Fridays resident can do. While Killafornia hasn't featured in the fridge since late october, the new installment shows he has been hard at work. 'Fresh As Fuck' is all fidget, all catchy and all Killafornia - check it out now.

Ps - He promises a new mixtape will be out this week too, which will be in the fridge as soon as its in the inbox so check back soon!

100% Home Grown

Apparently this track makes history as it becomes the first three-way collaboration from our very own nations capital, Canberra. Sweet. Anyway, D'Opus & Roshambo's brand new single caught the sights of Karton Radio, who pumped up the indie sounds into a pretty charged dancefloor track. It's a good collective effort (although not my favoured style) and impressive to see it all straight from Canberra. Check the link this week only.

Going Up?

Baby Gee, Danny T... JCEDIT... Killafornia... Habebe - all very good Brissy based DJ names known by everyone who has an interest in the scene. A few years ago of course, this would all have been very different and likewise, in a few years it will have changed again. DJ Kayli just sent over his latest mixtape and incase you don't know the guy, heres a few things about this true up-and-comer.

Dj Kayli, aka Kris, is currently working his way up the DJ ranks within Brisbane, already appearing at Empire Nightclub (middle bar), Uber and the always fun, GPO Hotel. From very different beginnings, DJ Kayli began music via guitar before experiencing the nightlife in the Brisbane CBD and with inspiration derived from many of Danny T's 'Dirty Thursday' sets, the taste for dirty fidget beats came naturally. Realising DJ'ing was what he wanted to do, DJ Kayli invested in some Pioneer CDJ's, a DJM-800 and EFX-1000 and put his head down for some serious practice (which sure is paying off). Check the fresh mixtape and everything DJ Kayli below.

I Was Right - Pelski Doesn't Dissapoint

F to the O to the A to the M to the  O   O    O       O ...

To be honest, I was getting a little down on the fact that the period between Pelski's (you can call him that too) posts were getting a little lengthy. Turns out it wasn't that he had suddenly run away from that fashionista scene he has surrounded himself with for so long - just simply computer fuck ups. I will let you know here and now, that this post was not planned, but sometimes you just have to share stuff. Well, I cant hold it any longer - check out Pelski's infamous playlist posts here and thank him for this. Foamo is amazing - certified banger!

All The More Reason...

I can see why many people consider dancing and drinking in the sun the day after the biggest night of your year a little crazy, but BBQ Beats (... not breaks) is doing more than ever to get everyone out of bed and into Brisbane's parkland in 2009. So much in fact, that they have just added 17 fresh DJs to an already decent line-up. Not only have they done that, but they made sure they got just the right guys to sooth the hangovers. Cut the shit - Habebe is now there, Jordan Naumov is now there and most of all, Danny T is now there.

Check back soon, with JCEDIT currently working his stuff into one of Sydney's best DJ's work and Jordan Naumov promising to throw some of his work this way soon.

Final BBQ Beats 2009 Line Up:
Sneaky Sound System, Public Enemy, Jackson Jackson, Van She, Bag Raiders, DJ Nu Mark, South Rakkas Crew, Mr Scruff, Aquasky, True Live, Walter Meego, Sampology, Tom Thumb, The Winnie Coopers, Adicts, The Optimen, Gavin Boyd, Dub Doubt, Habebe, Jason Morely, Danny T, Luki, Jimmy Vegas, Bitrok, Jordan Naumov, Wolfgang DJ's and The Surecut Kids.

ITM - Swing and a Miss

There wont be an In the Mix post this week within the Fridge. The free download is still available at this location. Sometimes two tastes just don't go together however many of you are sure to enjoy Girl Talk. New Brissy local stuff coming soon so check back.

Fridgejet's November Top 3 - #2

Well here we are, the second time around this month, throwing up the three best tracks of the month disregarding the fact that the claim has already been laid right here. While the previous three tracks are in no way overshadowed by the slightly late tracks below this text, I am digging the latter of the two posts. In finding issue two of the top three this month, I snapped up some goodies from Data Sapiens, Penned Madness and Discobelle respectively. No worries - the tracks were good and I couldn't find competition that had been posted within this month (and had not already appeared in my previous post).

Ps - to be honest, some of the production dates on these tracks are from other months, but the top 3 is based on Hype Machine aggregation.

From Data Sapiens
To be honest, it was all Boys Noize and very little Dada Life that made me have a listen to this song for the first time. Lucky I like Boys Noize, because it turns out Dada Life's got a lot of things going for them. Their remix does all the right things, amps the song up and makes you wanna pump it through the biggest speakers you can find. Dada Life have also thrown up an october mixtape (feat Crookers, MSTRKRFT, D.I.M etc) which is worth a look - check out the song and jump on their website (both the links are below).

Dada Life - October Mix Track List
MSTRKRFT - Bounce Ft. N.O.R.E. (A-Trak Remix)
Midfield General - Disco Sirens (D.I.M. Remix)
Mixhell - Highly Explicit (Brodinski Vietnam Remix)
Outhere Brothers - Enjoy (Crookers Remix)
Huoratron - Dollar Dollar Troopers
Pets On Prozac - Aso Bosa
Alex Gopher - Aurora (Shinichi Osawa)
Wiley - Summertime (Bart B More Remix)
Cliff Coenraad - Modulate
Fires Of Rome - Set in Stone (Dada Life Remix)
Les Petits Pilous - Housi
Weird Science - House Of Cards (Laidback Luke Remix)
Dada Life - Fun Fun Fun (Dada Life Guerilla Fart)
Radioclit - Africa Emerge

Considering all three tracks in the first installment of Fridge Jets november top three were sourced from Penned Madness, I guess this fourth showing is considered an addiction. Oh well, DaTsu did some really nice work with the French producer/DJ mixing the best yet and Penned Madness did well to get a hold of it. Click on Datsu to worship and chant at the official website.

Don Rimini - just typical Don Rimini. I guess you wouldnt go changing a good thing and with the French madman holding such a catchy and distinctive sound - the fan base is busting outwards. Well known for his heavy involvement, its never hard to find a new peice of work or a fresh mixtape from the Paris local. Oh look... there's one. Be sure to jump on his myspace too, with his involvement evident in the number of mixes, interviews, pictures and tour information. Click on the picture of Mr Rimini above to check it out.
