Just Quickly...

Awhile ago i forked out my $1.69 and got a Santiago and Bushido track, simply because of my personal preferences and this particular tracks compatibility with them. 'Headtrick', while managing to be one of my favorite almost midget like beats, never really made it to stardom on the hotspot blogs around the world wide web. While this is not a 'hotspot blog' I do feel the need to post this relatively old track - albeit its lack of apparent appeal. Take a listen and drag your curser to 'Santiago and Bushido' under artists on the right hand side of this page for more on the Chicago duo.

A Potty Mouth Never Dies

Potty Mouth Records have released a series of pictorials showcasing all the labels current signed artists. The pictures have been circulation for awhile, but they are just too cool not to put on here. Click on each artists respective title to visit their pages and check out their latest stuff. Potty Mouth are swinging with full force at the moment so expect heaps of new mixes soon - i'll try throw up the best of the best from amongst these artists within the next few weeks.

Malente Goodness (ITM)

Each week, In The Mix (ITM) happily provides a temporary download link to consistently promising offerings from selected Australian and international DJ's. In turn, I will funnel all the 'goodys' out and present them here. I previously made a post on Bag Raiders which provided a link to 'Shooting Stars', a track available via the ITM download feature. Just remember, I use the ITM link, so the links will be consistent and only last for one week, aka be quick and check back.

ITM Weekly Offering - Malente Goodness

This week, ITM gave a shout out to German producer/DJ Malente by showcasing his latest electro-tech touch up on the already established Stupid Fresh hit, 'Get the Fuck up'. Malente (named after the small German town he was born in), via Unique Records, has managed to push out 5 albums while maintaining a noteworthy international touring schedule. His remix of 'Get the Fuck up' proves his fan base has a reason to be loyal, with all the dirty electro he has developed nicely panned out through the song (yeh... wait for the edgy climax). While Stupid Fresh did no wrong in their original masterpiece, Malente adds some electronic attitude to the song, just perfect for the dancefloor. Check that shit and click on the pictures for their respective pages.

P.s - on the topic of Stupid Fresh, check out 'Spam Javelin'... here, its worth it!
Hurry.

Fridgejet's Top 3 - October

Each month i'll search around for music goodness and come the closing days of the month, I will collaborate and summarise - putting the best three tracks into a post and ready for you. The top three will be a combined effort, which is brought to you by the artist for completing the track, the source from which I found the song (blog/CD/release) and myself - responsible for the reincarnation of the song, right here.

Enough of the technicalities! This month 'DJ Lobsterdust' starred on White Folks Get Crunk for his Goin' Down mash up which took out first place respectively for its smooth lyrics and catchy beat. Second place, regardless of how long it takes before you consider a song old, goes to Adam Bozzetto for 'Disco' - a true Monastery beat! Pryda managed to snatch up third, throwing themselves on Penned Madness for their consistent and simple 'Rakfunk' offering. The repetitive track provides a beat that impresses for the duration of the song without needing any significant sound edits - nice!

3. Pryda - Rakfunk (Penned Madness)

Another Trip to the Sacred

Ryan Riback dumped himself into the world of electronic music, mixing a string of catchy and upbeat songs for the likes of Afrostatic, Telmo and Scott Orlans. While Riback doesn't pump out the sort of tunes that I regularly play on my I-pod, this Melbourne DJ/producer has earnt his respect in the Australian dance scene, combining a successful combination of club appearances and original mixes with his impressive (and quite often) 're-invigorations' on other artists work. So why am I writing about Ryan Riback if he isn't my peice of cake? October 30th has Monastery playing host to the Melbourne DJ alongside Baby Gee, Luki and Dominic James and with many of you not familiar with his work, heres what's coming up. AND... with Ryan Riback rocking Dirty Thursdays at Mono only a few weeks after the Bloody Beetroots, expectations could see Riback playing above and beyond his usual. Be sure to check out his myspace and jump on Beatport - you could find $4.98 (cost of a typical EP) behind the couch!

Jack and Matt ?

If your from Brisbane and you have a night life, you probably put on your good kicks and venture into the valley sometimes. If your similar to a lot of people, the likes of GPO would be a relatively good place to reach around 1am, with you generally finding yourself there till well after lockout. Turns out its worth the expensive drinks, with two of the best up and coming Brisbane DJ's constantly rocking GPO, you will always find at least one (and sometimes two) of the energetic DJ's filling the dance floor. JCEDIT and Killafornia between them amass a number of club appearances every week, constantly supporting the best DJ's from Australia and around the world alongside doing their part in 'Fuck Fluro' and residential duties at GPO and Monastery respectively. Check out their shit, jump on their pages and see them live!

JCEDIT?
Venture into the likes of GPO on any half decent night and the chances of you finding JCEDIT, aka Jack Carter, are pretty damn high. With the general post office making up his second home, the young Brisbane resident has all the time and motivation he needs to hone his skills on the decks and keep the crowds packing in. With his ghetto originality and heavier beats, JCEDIT's mixes have that big room feel and with his own remix efforts very impressive, there is more than just killer sets to come from Jack Carter - big future?

Killafornia?
This 21 year old DJ/producers sound is described by the former as adding a bad ass twist to an already underground, 'ghetto-electric' style, a colourful and surprisingly accurate description. Once you hear Killafornia in his true form, there's no wondering why Monastery are happy to sign him up for Fidget Fridays and as a full time resident, while the likes of Empire and GPO regularly bringing him in to fill the floors. While this schedule certainly cervices as active, Killafornia still manages to break out at the Elektrik Kiss parties alongside supporting all the best DJ's when they come to town. Check his shit!!

Wait, but where did you say all this goes down? GPO Nightclub - check out the upcoming events on their website and be sure to head to one of the hectic Fuck Fluro's coming up, with the next one featuring Knife Machine (Sydney).

'The Anti-King of Water Conservation?'

Contrasting the previous post on RDCTBR, the Melbourne young gun, it seems suitable to pay tribute to a more established Australian made DJ, especially considering his current production efforts. Over the past years, Ajax has become a household name in the Australian dance scene, with the established producer/DJ amounting masses of festival, club and concert appearances alongside a number of remixes and original releases. AJAX took out the In The Mix (ITM) Australian DJ Poll for two consecutive years, managing wins in 2006 and 2007, with a 3rd place finish in 2008. On top of that, Justice labeled AJAX as the one to watch in 2008 while Busy P and Digitalism gave him top honors for DJ's of 2007. The former Bang Gang DJ brought together his own efforts via his new label, Sweat It Out, which lead to the release of 'Sweat It Out - Volume 1' in conjunction with Miami Horror. Since then, the Sydney DJ is currently in works with his label alongside his own production efforts while still managing to show his stuff at all the best festivals and clubs throughout Australia. Be sure to check out the mixes ('Ain't lookin' for a Dime' recommended), its just a reminder (a relatively old one at that) of what AJAX is worth and hopefully a glimpse at what's coming up. Oh, and while your listening... jump on his myspace check out the tour dates, listen to some mixes and maybe even download a few? He's available everywhere.

Monastery's Finest

A few Dirty Thursdays ago, I paid my entry to Monastery Nightclub with a smile, knowing that by 1am I would be happily watching the Bloody Beetroots smash out one of their amazing sets. Well, turns out I didn't give Danny T enough credit, with the Monastary resident using what he describes as his 'quirky funky' beats to get the whole crowd moving well earlier than i anticipated. Holding two residencies and constantly playing with the likes of Baby Gee and Luki allows the 21 year old all the time he needs to hone his hip-hop roots into perfected club beats. Blah, Blah, Blah... regarding the music - Danny T put on a fidget styled, hip-hop beat bonanza then doused the crowd with his latest mix, 'SuperCalaFreakinAwesome'. It's danny at his finest, with the track list screaming fidget! Be sure to listen to the mix, then jump on his myspace or facebook and don't miss seeing him live ASAP!

If knowing what makes Danny T click is what your after, be sure to check out the two feature articles In The Mix did on Danny, both showing that the party doesn't stop at his sets. Article One or Article Two?

RDCTBR (Why not MSTRKRFT?)

Although RDCTBR (Red October) doesn't quite share the popularity of his vowel removing counterparts, the 18 year old from Melbourne's happy to prove he's got big things coming. At such a young age, Rob has already managed to released five remixes, numerous edits and 'Don't Stop', his debut original. This successfully splashed RDCTBR across blogs, featuring on KissAtlanta alongside many other popular blogs, gaining the publicity RDCTBR is happy to admit he wants. The songs here are not brand new, and while the young gun still hunts for a place to sign, his announcement of two upcoming remixes proves he is still working some magic on the decks. Technicalities aside, RDCTBR's music is choppy, addictive and very worth a listen. Check out the tracks, visit the links and tell everyone about him!

While on the topic of vowel opposing DJ outfits, MSTRKRFT are currently on their 'Fist of God' tour, filling floors around America and giving everyone a reason to purchase their new album, expected January 2009. The Toronto duo, who have now amassed over 30 remixes, had me listening to them on repeat with their catchy release, 'Vuvuvu'. Click the poster for tour dates and information.

Bag Raiders Are In the Mix

Be sure to jump on In The Mix this week to download Shooting Stars, taken straight from the new 'Turbo Love' EP
Bag Raiders are planning to top the charts with. Not my usual style of track, however the vocals are impressive and the song is defiantly of a happy nature - a feature not uncommon to Bag Raiders tracks.

The Big Bang

Dangerous Dan, Ajax, DJ Damage, Gus Da Hoodrat, Double Nolan and Jamie Doom all satisfy the criteria for successful independent DJ's. Turns out their collective pool of talents isn't too bad either, with this festival worthy lineup all calling themselves the Bang Gang Deejays. For anyone without a reason to love them, the collective have just released a two disk album - 'D is For Disco, E is For Dancing' and if the swarm of mini-mix's and live sets Bang Gang have released are any indication, the new disk set could be just what they need to rocket to the top. With their upcoming album tour, the likes of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will be able to experience the energised outfit in all their form. As you can tell from the promo mix below, there's a lot to be excited about with the new release, available here... or even here.

The track above is available on the awesome Bang Gang Podcast website, which helps the crew funnel all their beats to us as quickly as they can make them. You can also find links to purchase their tracks and tour dates and venues. Heres the track list for the 'D is For Disco, E is For Dancing' promo mix, enjoy!

Born With a Potty Mouth!

Potty Mouth Records - 'nuff said? Well, with the Chicago based production crew currently swimming in DJ talent, it seems overly appropriate to kick of the posts with a few of their always pleasant offerings. With signings like Hijack (UK), Santiago & Bushido (Chicago) and my personal favorites, The Crookers (Italy), Potty Mouth records have established themselves as one of the best alternative dance labels around. With Jesse Rose (aka Switch) noted for a significant amount of their inspiration, its obvious the boys in Chicago work well hand in hand with the Crookers alongside the many other fidgety DJ's Potty Mouth Records have surrounding them.

While the Potty Mouth signings defiantly don't lack any depth, Crookers could be seen as the more significant source of 'star power' amongst the DJ line-up, which is the reason why its so easy to find the latest Crookers track. While trying not to follow the trend, the latest Crookers mix is defiantly worth a mention, proving they still have world class flare. Their mix of Enjoy, is an upbeat, Crookers feeling song that has all the charm of their old ones and with the Crookers playing at the upcoming Stereosonic festival, Brisbane fans have a lot to be excited about. The Crookers Essential Mix (June 2008) consists of a huge (almost two hours!) set that comes with it all the reasons you love the Crookers and is currently available via Potty Mouth Records.

Outhere Brothers - Enjoy (Crookers Remix)

In my opinion, Potty Mouth records struck well with their signing of resident Sydney DJ, Adam Bozzetto. With his electro, fidgety style and connections within the fashion industry, Bozzetto finds himself with three residencies and a fan base expanding quicker than the lines outside the clubs he's playing in. Bozzetto released a three track EP with Potty Mouth, showcasing 'I Cant Go' (Original plus remix by Scott Cooper) and 'Disco', two equally catchy club tracks that will defiantly be the tracks you skip back too on your I-pod for some time to come. Be sure to check out his August 2008 mix (Available from Potty Mouth) and visit his myspace or beatport for information and tracks.
