AJAX DOES THE DIRTY!

It's not by chance everyone calls AJAX their favourite DJ. When he's not downloading out-of-the-box audio like the Law & Order theme song for his sets, this Sydney success story is heading up the sweatiest, most party ridden dance label in Australia. With artists like Yolanda Be Cool, Loot & Plunder, Swick & Dcup under his wing, he's a modern day testament to the old tales about surrounding yourself with good people. While I've got nothing but love for this dance-floor hero, his prominence in the Australian scene has moved my viewings of his skills away from intimate clubs and into the wide open festival settings. Don't get me wrong, if there is any Australian DJ who can whip up a killer festival set its Ajax, but boy do I miss seeing him at Monastery... Oh wait. He's coming back. Fucking yes!

Before we get to the details, here some tuneage compliments of Stoney Roads. They have an ear for quality music and they've recently featured a few 128kbps versions of the amazing new EP from Hump Day Project and MC Shureshock (Click here to buy the full thing). Here's the awesome LunyP remix, this dude is sick! Expect some of this Bmore style from AJAX!

AJAX ROCKS FUTURE

Two things gave Brisbane festival goers a mighty beat down yesterday. The annoying persistent rain, and Sweat It Out head honcho Ajax. While the element's certainly didn't add joy to anyones day, the latter of the two really livened up the afternoon crowd with his eclectic style and fast as f#%k mixing. With at least a thousand hand's in the air, Mr Thomas bounced around the decks and did his thing, dropping a number of Ajax originals and everything from 'Bangkok' to the Law & Order official theme song.

Despite a number of cancellations by the likes of 'Does It Offend You, Yeah' and so forth, the crowd laid witness to stellar performances by a massive selection of artist's. As the rain got heavier, punters found themselves hitting covered stages like the Pure Blonde Cube, the packed out Fuck Fluro stage and the rigged up Silent Disco, giving go-getters like Noy and Wolfie a solid selection of crowd to impress during their awesome sets. With locals like Danny T (Pink Flamingo) and Tim Fuchs (Pink Flamingo) also throwing down and showing their worth alongside the international heavy hitters, Brisbane punters had plenty to be proud of walking out after the 10 hour event. If your feeling up to listening to more music after yesterday, enjoy a few AJAX goodies and get your dancing shoes re-polished for March 11th when he rocks The Met with none other than Boys Noize and Housemeister!

PS: These tunes and mixtapes are by no means new, but its impossible for AJAX to go stale, especially now that they have all been put in the Fridge.

CONGOROCK TICKET GIVE AWAY!

Since rocking onto the scene, the Fuck Fluro boys have dished out an array of parties centered at the popular valley nightspot GPO hotel. In saying fuck to fluro, these lad's have partied alongside names like Alan Braxe, Tenzin, The Vandals and AJAX, but when everyone finally wakes up Saturday morning, be sure to add CONGOROCK to that list! Yep, the FF boys hit a goldmine when they locked in the Italian madman and this friday marks the big night, with a bunch of steller locals on support duties. If your unfamiliar with Congorock, we'll give you five fast facts:

(1) He likes Vitamin Water, (2) He has worked with The Bloody Beetroots, producing 'Rombo', (3) He likes The Drake Hotel in Toronto, (4) He has toured pretty much the whole world and (5) He has releases on 'Fools Gold Records', 'Hell Yeah' and a tonne of other premier record labels.

Perhaps this all makes you want 4 free tickets? Keep reading!

Do you ask anymore proof that this will be the one of the best nights the Fuck Fluro boys have put on yet? Well, maybe I'll clarify my quote of the 'steller locals' I chanted about, one of which turns out to be Benibee. He's a dope DJ and a saaweet GPO resident and to be honest, I'd take a stab in saying if you havn't heard his sound you probably don't go out all that much. This will fix you up, his latest tape, check it and watch him and more alongside that crazy Congorock Italian guy I talked about before!

Perhaps we should cut to the chase. The Fuck Fluro lad's have given us 4 free tickets to give away to one lucky punter out there. If your chasing four free tickets, answer this easy as f#%k question and get your entry paid VIP style.

Q:: Who is headlining this Friday night at Fuck Fluro's huge monthly party?
A:: send to fridge.jet@internode.on.net with the headline 'Congorock Competition' (hint)

Remember... it's this Friday at GPO so be quick and click for the event right about HERE.

YOU WIN!

Romance Raised My Pants

Remember how we were telling you about the hip/rad/cool new nightlife photographers snapping great pics under the banner 'Romance In My Pants'? Well the boys, Dave and Steve, are really getting things kicking now, with the launch of their 'Face of Romance' competition earlier in the week. The basis is finding a cool new happy snap to use as main background for all their future promotional artwork and so on and so forth, via the most likes on their Facebook page. Turns out its a pretty cool (and free) competition, with the winner receiving a 5 person VIP pass to kick it with AJAX at the next Fuck Fluro (GPO)... pretty mint huh? We're going to keep an eye out over the photos, and we might throw a bit of promotional glory to our favorite over the next week, but for now check out everything we have talked about at the two precious links below:

Dominant Daz

This bloke has it covered. He is killing production and he seems like the most laid back guy out - check what we ripped off his Myspace incase you haven't herd about Daz The Dominant before:

Daz The Dominant has been producing for a year, stepping into the dance scene with blitzkrieg form (currently in the eye of the storm). Addicted to perfection, Daz The Dominant does not release just anything to appear successful - with hundreds of tracks locked into the vaults. Daz prides himself in his released work, despite looking down on his production, and will continue to fulfil the club scene until the world blows up in 2012. You can catch Daz in Sydney clubs here and there.. and there - but does not insist on being a DJ.

Furthermore - here is an EP that is guaranteed to get you addicted to the sounds he's throwing out, check it then start buying his tracks and sending him fan mail every day!

'The Anti-King of Water Conservation?'

Contrasting the previous post on RDCTBR, the Melbourne young gun, it seems suitable to pay tribute to a more established Australian made DJ, especially considering his current production efforts. Over the past years, Ajax has become a household name in the Australian dance scene, with the established producer/DJ amounting masses of festival, club and concert appearances alongside a number of remixes and original releases. AJAX took out the In The Mix (ITM) Australian DJ Poll for two consecutive years, managing wins in 2006 and 2007, with a 3rd place finish in 2008. On top of that, Justice labeled AJAX as the one to watch in 2008 while Busy P and Digitalism gave him top honors for DJ's of 2007. The former Bang Gang DJ brought together his own efforts via his new label, Sweat It Out, which lead to the release of 'Sweat It Out - Volume 1' in conjunction with Miami Horror. Since then, the Sydney DJ is currently in works with his label alongside his own production efforts while still managing to show his stuff at all the best festivals and clubs throughout Australia. Be sure to check out the mixes ('Ain't lookin' for a Dime' recommended), its just a reminder (a relatively old one at that) of what AJAX is worth and hopefully a glimpse at what's coming up. Oh, and while your listening... jump on his myspace check out the tour dates, listen to some mixes and maybe even download a few? He's available everywhere.

The Big Bang

Dangerous Dan, Ajax, DJ Damage, Gus Da Hoodrat, Double Nolan and Jamie Doom all satisfy the criteria for successful independent DJ's. Turns out their collective pool of talents isn't too bad either, with this festival worthy lineup all calling themselves the Bang Gang Deejays. For anyone without a reason to love them, the collective have just released a two disk album - 'D is For Disco, E is For Dancing' and if the swarm of mini-mix's and live sets Bang Gang have released are any indication, the new disk set could be just what they need to rocket to the top. With their upcoming album tour, the likes of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane will be able to experience the energised outfit in all their form. As you can tell from the promo mix below, there's a lot to be excited about with the new release, available here... or even here.

The track above is available on the awesome Bang Gang Podcast website, which helps the crew funnel all their beats to us as quickly as they can make them.
