B Rich - B Happy!

"Hi, I'm Barrett. I Write House Music With Lots of Bass" - Barrett Richards.

Barrett Richards, aka B. Rich, hit the nail on the head with this simple one liner, used on his official myspace. The boy from Massachussets got in touch with us immediatly after we mentioned that his tunes were getting us going down under and came up with a nice little package for everyone to get dancing to. Before we get to that however, for those of you who don't know:

B. Rich hails from Massachussets, has roots in hip hop and old school rave, doesn't do the whole glam thing and most importantly, he's dropping some of the best fidget beats around at the moment - all alongside some of the biggest in the buisness (check out his work with AC Slater!). To be honest but, he probably has a right to get into the whole glam thing! Already, B. Rich has heard his songs via Radio 1, been held accountable for official remixes for giants like AC Slater, Bryan Cox and Gigi Barocca and already has a promising EP in the works for Party Like Us (Winter 2009). To top it all off, him and his mates (AC Slater and Udachi for specifics) own 'Party Like Us', providing a production outlet for the trio and their close friends. Check their statement here!

"The mission with 'Party Like Us' is to release dancefloor friendly tracks that incorporate all kinds of classical dance music elements with a creative and original edge. Basically, we like heavy bass that pounds and drives the dancefloor"

Pretty simple. It just work's. Remember, if the tracks below get you going, B. Rich is currently doing remix work for Kelevra, Designer Drugs, Jamie Fanatic and Norrit alongside getting his first HEAVY EP out via Palms Out next week (feat remixes from AC Slater, Heavy feet and more). The pack below contains a tasty (albeit older) mix of 50 cent and his forthcoming 'Animal' which is out in a couple of weeks - quality!

B Rich Beats including:
Knowlton Walsh - Animal (B Rich Remix)
50 Cent ft Young Buck - Fire (B Rich Remix)

FridgeJet's Monthly Top 3

Hangovers (and the resulting lack of posts) aside, bring on the best three songs sourced via Hype Machine in the month of January - via the ears of FridgeJet.

and
Maybe we are just biased towards Potty Mouth Records, but these two brothers (Patrick and Steve Hoody) are just too good! Electric Soulside put together one of the best produced Potty Mouth EP's ever, complete with a Kelevra appearance. The EP had the two tracks showcased here in the Beatport top 3 downloads for January 2009 and is getting dropped by the biggest names in the business coming into the new year. No doubt the boys are smiling with their already successful string of releases continuing to make people jump - with the EP proving big things are still to come. The synthy electro glitch that the boys base a trademark upon will become increasingly recognisable in 2009, as more and more start to jump on the Electric Soulside bandwagon.

Despite containing what I consider to be one of the more annoying vocal snippets ever created, this song is a switchboard of beats that just keeps dropping new ones as the song builds. The transitions are brilliant and just when you think the songs done and dusted it comes out with another drop! If this track is any demo of what the boys at 'Party Like Us Records' can do, its looking promising for the team. Check out all the appropriate paraphernalia below and get the tracks!

Huge 2009?

While they remain two of my favorite producers of all time, The Bloody Beetroots almost did a hit and run in 2008. A plethora of tracks suddenly opened up and gave the world a taste of what they were all about and upon the positive response, it was an all out war. The Bloody Beetroots went on a rampage, remixing everyone from The Kills and Robyn to Timbaland and LA Riots - all with amazing feedback. Now? Well it's a little quiet around France. Maybe its the fact that, like The Crookers, they just simply couldn't keep up that level of production and maintain a hectic touring schedule? Wrong, they can and they are. The Bloody Beetroots just dropped a teaser mix of what they have coming in 2009. Holy shit! (check out the track list - fresh)

Friendly Reminder...

Yep, Friday's going to be big. Two of Fridge Jet's favorites packed into the dungeon that is Monastery - how could it not be? This post is nothing but an excuse to get the crowds into what will be one hell of a night! The list below contains every track Killafornia and Danny T have ever put in 'The Fridge', which in turn holds everything you need to get into the mood to see the two tear it up this Friday (get your ghetto on for half price entry). See you there!

What a Night!

Call it luck, destiny or whatever you like, but it turns out the depths of Monastery snapped up the two hottest fidget runners in Brisbane as residents for 2009. Yep, thats right. Danny T and Killafornia will spend their late nights and early mornings dropping bombs and getting the sweaters going for the most part of 2009. But lets be honest here, what would Monastery be like without them? The quirky, fulfilling fidget bass-lines that the boys drop week in week out serve as a calling card to everyone who's tasted the genius of the two before. Individually, they have established themselves as front runners in the scene, so what the f*@K happens when you put them in their 'home', on the decks, together. A massive night with a lot of people wondering how it was only $5 (or $2.50 if you get your ghetto on) to see two superstars tear it up for 3 hours!!

Get to Monastery on Friday January the 30th and see the Mono shredders tear up the decks. Ok so now to the music side of things. For the occasion, Killafornia generously dropped an unfinished taste of what he has in the works. While he said he's got some work to go, its definitely on the way and its promising Killafornia like always. See ya' on the 30th!

InTheMix with Gang Bangers

Not quite, but  definitely in the hood considering Melbourne's Damn Arms are pushing nice tracks out on Bang Gang 12 Inches. January marks the release of their first single on the label and its looking to be good. Like always, In The Mix has the hook ups and throws it up for everyone exclusively for one week only. Check out what they have to say and snap it up ASAP!

Essential Nightlife Guide ED#1

OHHH Shit!!!!

Monthly Monastery Mixes!

Killafornia just dropped the first installment of what's set to be a ripper mixtape series via the house of filthy beats, Monastery. The club is known to twist out all things dirty - jacking fidget with all the best at their 'Dirty Thursdays' week in week out. The mixtape drops heavy players like WoNK and Calvertron and still manages to rep Brisbane via 'Ear Saw', the Jordan Naumov original. Best thing but? It's all done via the increasingly threatening skills of Killafornia, one of the best Brisbane has to offer! Get this mixtape fast, check back for the next one and drop into Monastery asap to see Killafornia do it live!

MORE Guerilla Farts

Photos by Martin Adolfsson - see link below

Simply visiting Fairtilizer to check up on what's going suddenly put me smack bang in the middle of the whirlwind that Swedish due Dada Life are currently kicking up. While the boys merely claim 'big tunes with no frills' their current production and remix work is up there with the most active boys on the scene (thats tough, considering Crookers pushed out 60+ remixes/originals in 2007). Currently, Dada Life are putting the final touches on their debut album 'Do the Dada' which will be sitting on store shelves by March 9th (which will in turn mark their immediate rise to fame). Before you go and spend your money on that, I snapped up the teams January mix which drops pressure from Malente as well as some tasty original work from the boys (oh, and check out Fairtilizer while your at it).

Martin Adolfsson (the guy who took the cool pictures!)

Anyway, they boys have been releasing 'Guerilla Fart Edits' in which they pick their favorite songs and add that lovely 'Dada' touch to it. Score to Discobelle.net, who has had the plethora of bangers all thrown their way alongside the generous lads putting them all on the Dada Life Official Website. Maybe you remember their work on Boys Noize's track 'Lava Lava' which made it into the FridgeJet monthly top 3. They are up to their 8th edit which brought in the new year, but here are the best half (in my personal opinion) - complete with the Discobelle articles!

Dada Life January Track Listing

Vacations in Sydney

I wish.

Vacations Records (home to many of Bass Kleph and Stupid Fresh's releases) have teamed up with Sydney local fRew and his one off vocalist, Jess Higgs, to pump out a pretty nice house tune. I was happy to see fRew featuring on the In The Mix this week and 'I Got Something' is exactly what you would expect from the hot shot. Nice underlying bass line that Jess Higgs smashes vocals all over has a pretty good effect on the ears, so jump on In The Mix, check out the artists and download the track!

NOY BOY! (a bit late)

He's fresh on the scene and his schedules filling quicker than the clubs he's playing at, but here it is, Noy's twisted out another killer mixtape. Incase you have had trouble finding Noy, he's generally alongside Brisbane's best somewhere in the depths of Monastery or supporting a monster international act in one of his many guest slots. Yeh, the Brisbane resident definitely has enough time to practice. The mixtapes impressive, going from a plethora of high hats to the depths of Foamo's remix of 'Half In Love with Elizabeth'. Check out his Myspace and see him at Monastery this Thursday and Saturday night (along with all the others).

Two Sets to Prepare !

More Boys Noize? Yep, Alex Ridha is killing it and he's coming to Empire (WITH TITTSWORTH*) !
*See below for more Tittsworth

Well, Boys Noize got into the whole 'giving' thing more than most this Christmas after providing an unreleased remix of his tasty original, 'Shine Shine'. The remix, done by Shadow Dancer, is just one of the many offerings on the Boys Noize Records Blog which serves as an exposer outlet for all the labels artists (If you forgot, D.I.M, Les Petits Pilous, Shadow Dancer, Strip Steve, Surkin, Boys Noize and the newly appointed DJ Maxximus all call Boys Noize Records home). On top of the unofficial remix of 'Shine Shine', to get in the spirit of new years festivities the Berlin resident released a recorded live set (it was from earlier in the year at 'Durrr') for his 90,000 friends on Myspace. Pretty nice guy... very good music and only $15 if your not lazy? Everyone should be there. Oh, but just in case you still don't know what your in for, here's the live set and a video of Boys Noize making everyone jump. Buy his shit!

HEY!! What About Tittsworth?
Yes, the American shredder is making his way to Australia after his successful album release, 'Twelve Steps'. Regarding the album, URB stated that 'Tittsworth shows with conviction that he doesn't just recycle songs - he creates them'. B-more brilliance pushing its way through Empires doors alongside the mega giant that is Boys Noize! Expensive night? Anyway, our friends over at Discobelle got a post together for Boxing day which incorporated Tittsworth's alternative to having nothing to listen to while wearing the hangover from the Christmas festivites. Check it out and say hi to him at Empire (middle bar) when he plays with Boys Noize!!

Diversity

Last week, In The Mix gave a visual offering of American trio N*E*R*D performing live and while it was very different to the usual, it was enjoyable none the less. This week, In The Mix proves their a diverse lot by providing a song on the outskirts of the genre set they usually play. Kid Sister (remember her single 'Pro Nails' with Kanye?) teams up with David Banner to push out the sort of song that will be on 2 hour rotation on all the local radio stations within the month. While its certainly going to get flogged (obviously not in clubs), the song is a good piece of production and worth a listen. Thanks In The Mix!

Ps - If you like Kid Sisters style, check out her single 'Pro Nails' and all the remixes available:
Kid Sister - Pro Nails (Bag Raiders Remix)
