PeaceTreaty Cheer

PeaceTreaty are based in the US. Their success is derived from their fully driven take on the dutch house sound. You could say they are 'big in the scene' right now - but that would probably be an understatement. In their kind nature, they have dropped their latest mixtape, entitled 'Control', for all your holiday cheer. Consider their remix of Nick Minaj & Will.I.Am's 'Check It Out' anthem a bonus.

SKETTI + REDIAL!

After throwing down in humble appearances all around the valley for the past couple of years, it seems Sketti's got more than a few things on lock. Now strutting his stuff regularly at Monastery Saturdays, it all seemed appropriate for the Brisbane local to throw a new mix out. Above and beyond this, Sketti also did his own little touch up of the highly popular Justin Martin tune 'Mr Spock'. Doing what had to be done, Sketti added some familiar lyrics that are more than expected. A perfect take on the original. Get the mixtape, get the edit, then become a fan of Sketti (CLICK HERE) and catch him during his next set!

Mixtape 2010 / 320kbps

Bonus?
Sydney producer and DJ redial has done his work on the debut single from Slow Down Honey. The finely tuned dance-punk anthem is quite a track to set your sights on, but as you'd expect from Redial - he's done wonders to it. Snack it up and be sure to praise the rightful participants!

WIRA... WHO?

Little is know about the taunter of twisted bass that is WIRA, but what we do know is that this anonymous punter is spoon feeding his dubstep/house/club hybrid to the hungry masses with great effect! After he recently leaked '13 Times', a mix of 13 upcoming tracks, many have been asking, who exactly is WIRA? Is it a bird? Is it plane? Is it Matt Damon? Is it all of the above?

Its the Fake Blood situation all over again! I have my theory that it's an already established artist, with a fresh bass ridden sound taking your mind hostage, but all we know for sure is this UK based musical recluse was kind enough to let us post his massive banger ANIMALS. So let the Animals run wild and free, and let the bass rattle the teeth out of your gums. BOOM

Also keep your ears peeled for Vloeitjes, his first release on Phuturelabs! Listen to it here.

Adam Bozzetto Says Hi (May #2)

I don’t have a lot of interesting things to talk about for this post but I am super happy I finished a new mixtape. They always seem to take a lot out of me doing them. I have put 3 unreleased track of my own in here and just a bunch of my favorite song’s. They are not all new tracks but some of them I am still playing a lot when I dj. Some of my favorite tracks on the mix are Mj Cole – Volcano Riddim and High Powered Boys – Highway. The like the MJ Cole track just because of the massive bass sound in it and the kinda broken beat and I have been waiting for a new High Powered Boys EP for like FOREVER.

(tracklist included)

TAPES!

Have mixtape's become more or less essential to a modern day artist? To some listeners, they offer very little appeal relative to a fresh new track, but to others - their a collectors gem. Regardless of opinion, when guy's like A-Trak and Riva Starr drop a fresh mixtape, it's pretty damn hard to pass up! We've got both of them here for you today, with each individual effort showing a very different side of modern day music!

A-TRAK presents
After his stellar release of Dirty South Dance 1 back in 2007, A-Trak has finally popped out the highly anticipated sequel for the world! Keeping in suit, the release showcases all things 'dance friendly', mashed and layered upon sweeeeet southern rap and hip-hop rhymes. The 15 track releases showcases A-traks years of skill behind the turntables, with the mix seamlessly scratching, chopping and dicing threw a plethora of styles and genres. He's even been nice enough to chop the mix into individual tracks and allow it for streaming. Don't think about this, just do it - you can thank us later!
RIVA STARR presents
After throwing down a killer set at the Brisbane leg of Creamfields 2010, Riva Starr has gone and pushed out another killer mixtape. On the back of his storming Essential Mix for Pete Tong earlier in the year, Riva has backed up nicely to showcase an awesome 'dirtybirdesque' sounding tape! After releasing it earlier in the week, he had one given commandment for anyone wishing to experience it - 'No laptop speakers!'. The amusing post, that was sent out over his official Twitter, really does make sense when you listen to the release. It's encapsulation of tech and tribal infused house perfectly compliments his style and is really fitting. Download or stream this tape ASAP at the link above!

We Don't Get Bored - We Get Busy!

Playing what could easily be described as the pinnacle of a 'house party', The Surecut Kids style can't really be justified by words. Not only do they have a trained ear that hones in on exactly what the punters are chasing, but the seem to go one better by constantly mashing it up and serving it in a way no one could have anticipated! They've just dropped their latest mixtape, which aired exclusively on JJJ a week or two ago, and boy does it encompass everything we've come to love about them. Think cheeky vocals, fast cuts, vicious drops, hip hop, club anthems, acapellas, tasty edits and a solid serving of Surecut Kids own production. We suggest you clear out the car CD player and crank up the volume knob as we ca guarantee n you'll be playing this loud and for a long time to come! You can download it in a single track form or split into all 34 tracks (the tracklist is in comments!). Thank-you guys :)

FJ EXCLUSIVE 001: BRODINSKI

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/8128/brodp.jpg

Having a chat with a name like Brodinski is a truly eye opening experience. Firstly, its amazing how someone can keep such a level head after killing it for so long. Secondly, it's always a good feeling to ask the questions you've always wanted to know. Read on and check out our exclusive interview with the man himself, providing our first chapter in a string of international interviews to come. The Parisian superstar chats about hip-hop, blogging, his production partners and more! Enjoy it folks.

FJ: Your smack bang in the middle of a stellar music career, what started it all?

Well, I remember loving music a lot and also playing music a lot. Now it's my job! What more can I say really?

Simple as that! Tell us about 'Bad Runner' on Mental Groove in 2007. Was that something you spent countless hours on?

Man, I did 'Bad Runner' in four hours! I'm honestly not really proud of it because it was my very first try in the studio and everyone loved it, so it was very hard to repeat the same thing right after - you know what I mean? But now I'm really just focusing on the music I love and trying to entertain people as much as I can!

In regards to 'My Jerk', what made you turn around and produce a complete hip-hop tape?

I think its important for people to hear what I love. It's sometimes very difficult for me to just keep to one side and just continue playing exactly the same style of music all the time. To be honest, it's cool if people don't like, or if they dig it! I just want people to discover some other kinds of music. I'd never play that sort of stuff in a club!

The Brodinski banner has splattered itself all round the world. Got a favourite place to rock out?

Social Club in Paris is on top at the moment. I really love Europe in general because the club culture is truly amazing. After that, I really love to discover different places like Asia, Australia and the USA.

Your run a blog entitled 'Smoke Mashine'. Is that just another way to interact with fans?

Mmm, I more think I can interact with my fans via Myspace, Twitter and Facebook. But my blog is something else. It's something for people who love hip hop and RnB in another way. It's really cool because I can put up some polo or horses tapestries and people will like it!

You've spent time doing production with the likes of Noob, Mumdance and your production partner Yuksek. Do you like having a partner in the studio?

I love to have somebody with me! Honestly, I just can't produce alone. I don't have the capacity to do it! It's so amazing to do music with some other like minded people. I really love it! I'm working with some more producers right now though, please don't tell anyone!

Who's hot on the scene right now? Is everyone as busy as you?

Highbloo is hot, Mele is hot, French Fries is hot, Tony Senghore is hot, Egyptrixx is hot... and I'm pretty sure I would be forgetting some! And yes, you really don't have to worry about me. I have plenty of time to enjoy myself! (Laughs)

Thanks for your time mate!

Incase you missed it recently
A tune from Mele, as mentioned in the interview! This kid is a real up and comer and considering his age, its pretty safe to say there's some big things coming from him soon!

AJAX ROCKS FUTURE

Two things gave Brisbane festival goers a mighty beat down yesterday. The annoying persistent rain, and Sweat It Out head honcho Ajax. While the element's certainly didn't add joy to anyones day, the latter of the two really livened up the afternoon crowd with his eclectic style and fast as f#%k mixing. With at least a thousand hand's in the air, Mr Thomas bounced around the decks and did his thing, dropping a number of Ajax originals and everything from 'Bangkok' to the Law & Order official theme song.

Despite a number of cancellations by the likes of 'Does It Offend You, Yeah' and so forth, the crowd laid witness to stellar performances by a massive selection of artist's. As the rain got heavier, punters found themselves hitting covered stages like the Pure Blonde Cube, the packed out Fuck Fluro stage and the rigged up Silent Disco, giving go-getters like Noy and Wolfie a solid selection of crowd to impress during their awesome sets. With locals like Danny T (Pink Flamingo) and Tim Fuchs (Pink Flamingo) also throwing down and showing their worth alongside the international heavy hitters, Brisbane punters had plenty to be proud of walking out after the 10 hour event. If your feeling up to listening to more music after yesterday, enjoy a few AJAX goodies and get your dancing shoes re-polished for March 11th when he rocks The Met with none other than Boys Noize and Housemeister!

PS: These tunes and mixtapes are by no means new, but its impossible for AJAX to go stale, especially now that they have all been put in the Fridge.

CHILLI N SURECUT

While browsing around A-trak's official website we noticed a cool little vid of him and Chilli Gonzales performing at the 'Piano Talk Show' in New York a week or two back (watch the video here). A-trak just never ceases to amaze us, but this time he was happy to hand the limelight over to Chilli, stating 'I strongly recommend Gonzo's new mixtape, trust me, you've never heard anything like this'. Curious we jumped the link asap and downloaded what was sure to be something special, especially given the calibre of Mr Macklovitch. Upon completion, 'Pianist Envy' served us up a 30 minute remix hot pot, spewing out a range of piano infused hip-hop, electro and club remixes. Expect tunes from heavy hitters like 50 Cent, Daft Punk, Lil Wayne and heaps more - but with a nice twist!

BONUS?
The Surecut Kids always work a wonder and this time they've reworked the Australian classic 'How Bizarre'. We're running on short time so click here to see what the boys had to say about it on their blog and download the tune at the link above - its more than worth it!

BOOM?

This post has all the pre-requisites to qualify as our third 'tracky tuesday', but the name is just too bad. Instead I have opted for something that doesn't make any sense and has very little meaning - a name I am much more comfortable using. Bullshit technicalities aside, today we have tunes from Aspin & Dipace!

Our boys Aspin & Dipace dropped us a line the other day to inform that a new bootleg was in the works. It got us pretty excited, knowing the stature of the duo. After having airplay on the likes of Radio 1, gained support from big name industry players and pushing out an extensive discography - we knew their 10 years of production experience wouldn't go astray when it came to their latest remix. Honing their sights on Noob & Brodinski's hit 'Peanuts Club', the Aspin & Dipace freight train ran the original into the ground with a heavy, thick bass-line, creating a peak time banger destined to make crowds sweat. Also included is their latest tape, holding tunes from the likes of Filthy Rich, Afrojack and themselves (tracklist in comments). Tasty!

BONUS BEATS?
(this one just chops and changes, you could do the same on decks, but who cares!)

Sunday Headaches

Ouch.

That four letter word seems like a pretty adequate way to summarise the general feeling for us come Sunday morning and after this weekend, it couldn't be more relevant. Despite the feelings of dizziness, nausea and vertigo, we decided to shoot out some of the tracks we've received over the two day break. It's a random collection and theres no method to our madness, so just enjoy the tracks and download and play them - pretty damn simple if you ask me. Oh and one last thing before we jump into it... we are currently asking YOU the readers who you would like us to feature next! It's a status update on out Facebook page and you can reach it by hitting : http://www.facebook.com/fridgejetmusic. DO IT!

Afrojack is simply amazing. It's very hard to find words to describe what he does, but the Dutch house producer seems to have a nack for writing tunes people want to hear. The latest 'Ministry of Sound' album 'Underground' is a testament to just how hot he is right now, with his tracks taking up over 50% of the first CD. He splattered his signature goodness all over Family nightclub recently and for punters who were lucky enough to experience it first hand, things got a little crazy. We've included two bootlegs for anyone who's as addicted to him as we are. You have the man himself, Angger Dimas and Walta to thank for these!

Brodinski has made a name for himself via a series of versatile and ear catching productions and he could probably ride his wave of success all the way to retirement - but he's not. Still putting in more effort than ever, its amazing how different the French producer is in comparison to his Parisian peers. The guys programming is straight up impeccable and its easy to be left dumbfounded at the lack of limits he holds. Want proof? Check out his 'My Jerk' mixtape thats just dropped. After a string of electro/bassline and club productions, Louis smashed a straight hip-hop tape from nowhere, conjuring up what I can only describe as magic! We've also included a bit of Skream, a tune Brodinski favours highly and posted on his rad blog SmokeMashine! Check it out.

We got a line to us dropped about upcoming DJ and producer Danny Dove and we'll safely say we must have missed his introduction to the world. With the name ringing no bells what-so-ever, we were surprised to learn the kid already has remixes for the likes of Moby and Empire of the Sun, alongside having airplay on Pete Tong's Essential Selection radio show. Wow! His latest EP out on Glam Rox Records has a big room uplifting feel, including remixes from eSquire, Alex Miles and a cool dubstremental. We've included a few tunes for you to get a taste and if you like the EP be sure to buy the 'One Life' EP right HERE!

RIVA STARR FEATURE

Riva Starr is a name considered very familiar to anyone with an interest in modern house music. Having shot to the top after a string of head turning releases on some of the most talked about labels, Riva Starr couldn't be any hotter right now. What's quite remarkable though is how quickly Stefano Miele, aka Riva Starr, established himself so prominently on a DJ/producer circuit thats notoriously difficult to break. It doesn't hurt that Claude VonStroke and Jesse Rose, the two men who sit atop of the pile, happen to be his biggest fans!

Riva's cleverly structured productions have made him a very sought after collaboration companion, completing remixes for Malente, Fatboy Slim, our very own Reekay Garcia, Tom Piper, Daniel Farley and many more. To hype up one of his recent releases "Dance Me" (one of my all time favorites), he made a promotional video equally captivating as the song. This song has also reached many top 10 DJ and music charts. The man also currently has an album which Beatport is exclusively promoting as one of their cream of the crop for the month. "If live gives you lemons, then make lemonade" includes all of his most recent productions plus some groovy, stripped back tech house tunes that I'm sure you'll find perfect for a warm-up set! If you've been nestled under a rock, check out the tunes and BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix I've included below to get a fair idea just what Riva Starr is capable of.

60 in 60

Shameless self-promotion is an essential part of any music blog... well on second thoughts thats a lie, but who cares. Awhile back KEEN? (or myself) knocked up 'Absolutely Everything' which encapsulated all that is heavens language. The download link maxed out and I've had a few requests for an alternate download link. I've gone with trusty old Mediafire this time round, but if your still wanting to stream the tape then you can do so at my Soundcloud account by clicking right here. Anyway, enjoy!

Tracky Tuesday

Who cares about the lame name and no this is not a regular thing, but heres some tunes! They are a cross section of goodness from our inbox, new and old. Some of them you may have heard and some you may have not. More importantly though, you should thank B. Rich, UK Fidget Mafia and the Brain Matters DJ's for sending them threw to us. Nice guys hey?

B. Rich - February 2010 Promo Mix (tracklist in comments)
You all know what we think of B.Rich and his awesome production efforts so there isn't too much to say for this one. The friendly US DJ/Producer has given out a full EP to celebrate his upcoming UK tour plus a fresh 2010 mixtape for your car stereo. Hit him some thanks right here and be sure to follow his shit up on Beatport!

We don't know much about these boys and they really didn't tell us all that much, but we think if your into the heavy driving basslines that are constantly coming out of labels like Champion Beats, Flexual Records etc, your in for a treat with these two!

As you should already know, Northie + Benson = Brain Matters. They did a 10 minute mini mix late last year for Nova Radio and its quite a cool little mix. It includes a number of their own tunes, some offerings from the likes of Carl Tricks, Mstrkrft, Bingo Players, Dan Aux and a bunch more. Enjoy :)

DONE!

DESTROY DISCO!

The Destroy Disco boys need no introduction. They are in Brisbane on both the 12th of Feb (click here) and the 6th of March (click here) so get your dancing shoes on for a double dose of madness. We caught up with the crew recently and had a nice little chat about the happenings in their life. Enjoy and nab the tracks for audible proof that you HAVE to hear them!

In as many words as you want or less, give anyone who's been living under a rock the framework behind you boys.

Well we are three guys from Sydney. Adam, Anthony and Sargon. And have been dj'ing and producing together now for about 3 years. We all grew up with different musical background, so when we came together we had a solid variety of influences, which can be heard in all our tracks.

We posted some of our tracks up on the blogs at the end of 2007 and by June 2008 we had our first release on Bart B More's label Secure Recordings. Later that year we also had done remixes for Malente on Southern Fried Records and Jokers of the Scene on Fools Gold. We've had big support from international guys like Kissy Sell Out and Andy George and Jaymo on their Radio 1 shows in the UK, aswell as guys like Laidback Luke, Brodinski and Foamo. Theres a video floating around Youtube of The Bloody Beetroots banging out one of our remixes at a club! Since then we have put out our second EP on Bart's label, had a couple of tracks feature on compilations and have done numerous remixes for guys like Kid Kenobi, Tom Piper, Urchins, AC Slater and Villanord.

Whats the primary perk from making it in the scene?

Free drinks ha! Nah its really good to see other guys playing out our tunes in clubs and at festivals and getting good feedback from them all. It is always a nice feeling when someone comes up to you and says they really enjoy the music we make.

You hit solid gold with a few of your original efforts, whats it like seeing names in the calibre of Laidback Luke dropping your tunes to the masses?

When we were up on stage at Future Music Festival with Laidback Luke, hearing our track coming in was amazing. I still tell people that it has to be one of the best things that has happened to us so far. Hearing the crowd cheer when the bass kicked in is something I don't think ill ever forget, and if i do their is always the Youtube video to watch :)

How does your home crowd in Sydney take a set of yours relative to the sweaty punters you visit around Australia?

Well to be honest, these upcoming Brisbane gigs are really our first 'interstate' gigs we have played. We have played on the South Coast of New South Wales in the past and that was a whole lot of fun, but Brisbane is going to be our first gig over the border, and hopefully not our last. I think generally though all the crowds take to our sets well. The club your playing at might have its regular 'crowd' so sometimes you have to change your style up, which is something we really have no trouble doing. We're influenced by lots of different music ranging from Hip Hop, House, Trance, Dubstep, Techno and progressive so having to play some of these tracks is no problem.

You've got headline acts at GPO and Planet coming up over the next month, what have you got planned for the crazy kids up this way?

There will be a bit of everything i think. We'll see how the crowd takes to our music and take it from there. But be sure to hear a few Destroy Disco exclusives, some personal edits and remixes from our friends around the world and at home. You'll probably hear a few classics too ;-)

Anyone besides your own blood sweat and tears that you have to thank for getting this far?

Wow. Yeah there is a whole heap of people. The first guy would probably be Ryan who writes the Electric Zoo blog. He posted up our tunes originally which basically started it all. Then there is Bart B More and his label for signing us and anyone else that has given us the chance to remix for their labels, or done remixes for us.

Last of all, we'll take a page out of Nightvision's book and ask, biggest train wreck? A gig ever gone terribly wrong?

Ahh yeah there is always the gigs where someone kicks out the mixer's Power Supply, or the CDJ's cue button doesn't work in which case you get some poor guy running around frantically trying to find you another CD player before the track runs out, but there has never really been any train wrecks as such. Maybe back as teenagers learning how to mix at house parties and our beat mixing sounding like a couple of horses coming down the home straight. But lets keep our fingers crossed that we wont have any train wrecking up in Brissy!

We are positive it won't. Look forward to seeing you boys soon!!
