Call him Herve, The Count or even Joshua Harvey - regardless of his title this four to the floor rocker knows how to write a bassline, and having remixed everyone from Wiley and Shinichi Osawa to Santogold and Steve Aoki, it's safe to say the rest of the world will quite happily agree with this lengthy opening statement.
We've blogged about the UK shredder before, but we felt it appropriate to back those posts up with a tribute to his latest offering, coming in the form of 'Ghetto Bass 2' - his forthcoming mix CD. When the headline of a recent email read, 'Herve Gives Out Free...', it was pretty obvious we were going to jump on it asap and boy are we glad it worked out that way. The contents of the email came in the form of 'Hot! Drum Attack', making up ONE single segment of his highly anticipated 'Zombies' release. The tune itself combines (exactly as the name suggest) a drummed out intro before dropping into a driving bassline that's just OH SO HERVE. Enjoy it and nab the release the minute it drops. It's worth it!
During Fuck Fluro's awesome 2nd birthday at GPO last weekend, we laid witness to not only Ajax, but also Tenzin ripping Code bar a new hole. It's something about the way in which these two deliver their tunes that makes them drink beers in a whole different ballpark to the rest of the Australian dance music collective. No sooner had we recovered from a vicious hangover than two fresh Tenzin goodies had popped up in our inbox. These tracks are dope, with 'Playing Games' delivering a more melodic and chilled floor filler and 'New Message' serving up a peak time electro anthem. Thank Tenzin for been a party hound ASAP!
Still thirsty?
(You missed out hard if you didn't see this guy at Empire!)
