AMERICANO FEVER

Perhaps the most hyped song of 2010, Yolanda Be Cool & Dcups upbeat bonanza 'We No Speak Americano' looks like it's here to stay. Despite hitting the airwaves quite some time ago, you'd be hard pressed to take a radio aided car journey and NOT hear the track at least once. While we have never been fond of overkill on radio stations, the Fridgejet team are happy to admit that if 'catchyness' had a soundtrack, this would be the title track!  Incorporating elements of jazz, baile funk and all things jumpy, it ticks all the boxes for writing a modern day house track that appeals to the masses.

Not ones to let the hype die, Sweat It Out Records recently teamed up with Spank to run a promotional remix competition on the tune. Spanning a number of months, the competition is still live and will be closing on the 30th of May, with entries expected to be overflowing their inboxes. We've been thrown a number of these audible efforts over the past weeks and thought we'd pass a few on to your faithful readers. First up, we've got a remix from The Surecut Kids. It keeps a pretty similiar intro to the original, but the drop displays all the features you'd expect from the Gold Coast duo. Catchy drums, a gritty bassline and some cool wobbles make it a fun tune that keeps you guessing! Secondly, Sydney DJ and producer Tenzin has reworked the tune into a 3am stomper that could resemble something coming out of the Dada Life camp. It pushes, sucks and smashes your ears and boy, it's a highly creative take on the original version. Last but not least, local producer Wolfie riddles the tune with his minimalistic basslines, tight drums and crisp kicks, giving a tech house orientated take on the tune. I say enjoy!

Bowwwwnus!?

HERVE/TENZIN/KISSY

Call him Herve, The Count or even Joshua Harvey - regardless of his title this four to the floor rocker knows how to write a bassline, and having remixed everyone from Wiley and Shinichi Osawa to Santogold and Steve Aoki, it's safe to say the rest of the world will quite happily agree with this lengthy opening statement.

We've blogged about the UK shredder before, but we felt it appropriate to back those posts up with a tribute to his latest offering, coming in the form of 'Ghetto Bass 2' - his forthcoming mix CD. When the headline of a recent email read, 'Herve Gives Out Free...', it was pretty obvious we were going to jump on it asap and boy are we glad it worked out that way. The contents of the email came in the form of 'Hot! Drum Attack', making up ONE single segment of his highly anticipated 'Zombies' release. The tune itself combines (exactly as the name suggest) a drummed out intro before dropping into a driving bassline that's just OH SO HERVE. Enjoy it and nab the release the minute it drops. It's worth it!

During Fuck Fluro's awesome 2nd birthday at GPO last weekend, we laid witness to not only Ajax, but also Tenzin ripping Code bar a new hole. It's something about the way in which these two deliver their tunes that makes them drink beers in a whole different ballpark to the rest of the Australian dance music collective. No sooner had we recovered from a vicious hangover than two fresh Tenzin goodies had popped up in our inbox. These tracks are dope, with 'Playing Games' delivering a more melodic and chilled floor filler and 'New Message' serving up a peak time electro anthem. Thank Tenzin for been a party hound ASAP!

Still thirsty?
(You missed out hard if you didn't see this guy at Empire!)

TENZIN!

Unlike some, the essence of a true party never get's lost in translation when Tenzin decides to write a tune. Having drunk more than his fair share of bar tabs, rocked way too many venues and doused thousands upon thousands with his signature sound, the Sydney rocker knows exactly what it takes to up the anti and make the punters sweat.

Contrary to his consistently hectic appearances schedule, the Sydney young buck actually gets some spare time to write a tune every now and then (perhaps when he's not rocking the popular Fuck Fluro parties). Providing the perfect opportunity to channel his live sets into 'oh so sweet' 5 minute poetry, this free jam is consistently put to good use given that he's completed plenty of original and remix work, tracks that form centrepieces for his packed out sets. Tenzin's latest effort, coming in the form of 'Red Neck Noise', provides a peak time electro banger with a comedic breakdown that perfectly represents the title - its straight up red neck shit baby! The drop will have the fiends going wild and the drunks toppling over - a statement we are happy to stand by. Your going to love this shit!

CONGOROCK TICKET GIVE AWAY!

Since rocking onto the scene, the Fuck Fluro boys have dished out an array of parties centered at the popular valley nightspot GPO hotel. In saying fuck to fluro, these lad's have partied alongside names like Alan Braxe, Tenzin, The Vandals and AJAX, but when everyone finally wakes up Saturday morning, be sure to add CONGOROCK to that list! Yep, the FF boys hit a goldmine when they locked in the Italian madman and this friday marks the big night, with a bunch of steller locals on support duties. If your unfamiliar with Congorock, we'll give you five fast facts:

(1) He likes Vitamin Water, (2) He has worked with The Bloody Beetroots, producing 'Rombo', (3) He likes The Drake Hotel in Toronto, (4) He has toured pretty much the whole world and (5) He has releases on 'Fools Gold Records', 'Hell Yeah' and a tonne of other premier record labels.

Perhaps this all makes you want 4 free tickets? Keep reading!

Do you ask anymore proof that this will be the one of the best nights the Fuck Fluro boys have put on yet? Well, maybe I'll clarify my quote of the 'steller locals' I chanted about, one of which turns out to be Benibee. He's a dope DJ and a saaweet GPO resident and to be honest, I'd take a stab in saying if you havn't heard his sound you probably don't go out all that much. This will fix you up, his latest tape, check it and watch him and more alongside that crazy Congorock Italian guy I talked about before!

Perhaps we should cut to the chase. The Fuck Fluro lad's have given us 4 free tickets to give away to one lucky punter out there. If your chasing four free tickets, answer this easy as f#%k question and get your entry paid VIP style.
