DESTROY DISCO!

The Destroy Disco boys need no introduction. They are in Brisbane on both the 12th of Feb (click here) and the 6th of March (click here) so get your dancing shoes on for a double dose of madness. We caught up with the crew recently and had a nice little chat about the happenings in their life. Enjoy and nab the tracks for audible proof that you HAVE to hear them!

In as many words as you want or less, give anyone who's been living under a rock the framework behind you boys.

Well we are three guys from Sydney. Adam, Anthony and Sargon. And have been dj'ing and producing together now for about 3 years. We all grew up with different musical background, so when we came together we had a solid variety of influences, which can be heard in all our tracks.

We posted some of our tracks up on the blogs at the end of 2007 and by June 2008 we had our first release on Bart B More's label Secure Recordings. Later that year we also had done remixes for Malente on Southern Fried Records and Jokers of the Scene on Fools Gold. We've had big support from international guys like Kissy Sell Out and Andy George and Jaymo on their Radio 1 shows in the UK, aswell as guys like Laidback Luke, Brodinski and Foamo. Theres a video floating around Youtube of The Bloody Beetroots banging out one of our remixes at a club! Since then we have put out our second EP on Bart's label, had a couple of tracks feature on compilations and have done numerous remixes for guys like Kid Kenobi, Tom Piper, Urchins, AC Slater and Villanord.

Whats the primary perk from making it in the scene?

Free drinks ha! Nah its really good to see other guys playing out our tunes in clubs and at festivals and getting good feedback from them all. It is always a nice feeling when someone comes up to you and says they really enjoy the music we make.

You hit solid gold with a few of your original efforts, whats it like seeing names in the calibre of Laidback Luke dropping your tunes to the masses?

When we were up on stage at Future Music Festival with Laidback Luke, hearing our track coming in was amazing. I still tell people that it has to be one of the best things that has happened to us so far. Hearing the crowd cheer when the bass kicked in is something I don't think ill ever forget, and if i do their is always the Youtube video to watch :)

How does your home crowd in Sydney take a set of yours relative to the sweaty punters you visit around Australia?

Well to be honest, these upcoming Brisbane gigs are really our first 'interstate' gigs we have played. We have played on the South Coast of New South Wales in the past and that was a whole lot of fun, but Brisbane is going to be our first gig over the border, and hopefully not our last. I think generally though all the crowds take to our sets well. The club your playing at might have its regular 'crowd' so sometimes you have to change your style up, which is something we really have no trouble doing. We're influenced by lots of different music ranging from Hip Hop, House, Trance, Dubstep, Techno and progressive so having to play some of these tracks is no problem.

You've got headline acts at GPO and Planet coming up over the next month, what have you got planned for the crazy kids up this way?

There will be a bit of everything i think. We'll see how the crowd takes to our music and take it from there. But be sure to hear a few Destroy Disco exclusives, some personal edits and remixes from our friends around the world and at home. You'll probably hear a few classics too ;-)

Anyone besides your own blood sweat and tears that you have to thank for getting this far?

Wow. Yeah there is a whole heap of people. The first guy would probably be Ryan who writes the Electric Zoo blog. He posted up our tunes originally which basically started it all. Then there is Bart B More and his label for signing us and anyone else that has given us the chance to remix for their labels, or done remixes for us.

Last of all, we'll take a page out of Nightvision's book and ask, biggest train wreck? A gig ever gone terribly wrong?

Ahh yeah there is always the gigs where someone kicks out the mixer's Power Supply, or the CDJ's cue button doesn't work in which case you get some poor guy running around frantically trying to find you another CD player before the track runs out, but there has never really been any train wrecks as such. Maybe back as teenagers learning how to mix at house parties and our beat mixing sounding like a couple of horses coming down the home straight. But lets keep our fingers crossed that we wont have any train wrecking up in Brissy!

We are positive it won't. Look forward to seeing you boys soon!!

CONGOROCK TICKET GIVE AWAY!

Since rocking onto the scene, the Fuck Fluro boys have dished out an array of parties centered at the popular valley nightspot GPO hotel. In saying fuck to fluro, these lad's have partied alongside names like Alan Braxe, Tenzin, The Vandals and AJAX, but when everyone finally wakes up Saturday morning, be sure to add CONGOROCK to that list! Yep, the FF boys hit a goldmine when they locked in the Italian madman and this friday marks the big night, with a bunch of steller locals on support duties. If your unfamiliar with Congorock, we'll give you five fast facts:

(1) He likes Vitamin Water, (2) He has worked with The Bloody Beetroots, producing 'Rombo', (3) He likes The Drake Hotel in Toronto, (4) He has toured pretty much the whole world and (5) He has releases on 'Fools Gold Records', 'Hell Yeah' and a tonne of other premier record labels.

Perhaps this all makes you want 4 free tickets? Keep reading!

Do you ask anymore proof that this will be the one of the best nights the Fuck Fluro boys have put on yet? Well, maybe I'll clarify my quote of the 'steller locals' I chanted about, one of which turns out to be Benibee. He's a dope DJ and a saaweet GPO resident and to be honest, I'd take a stab in saying if you havn't heard his sound you probably don't go out all that much. This will fix you up, his latest tape, check it and watch him and more alongside that crazy Congorock Italian guy I talked about before!

Perhaps we should cut to the chase. The Fuck Fluro lad's have given us 4 free tickets to give away to one lucky punter out there. If your chasing four free tickets, answer this easy as f#%k question and get your entry paid VIP style.
